Strange rumours of new Marvel movies...

Eh, just make him Scott and Jean's son from the future. And only elude to it, don't make it the central point. Skip the whole Sinister/Goblin Queen/Apocolypse/Askani/Stryfe storyline.

Problem is, Cable's entire backstory is entrenched in X-Men mythology. You seperate that from him and he's basically just a psychic cyborg with a gun.

That's true, but you can keep the whole Commando Jesus sent back in time to prevent the rise of En Sabah Nur while ditching that very complex origin tale.

Nighthawk?! Darkhawk might work, especially if they play up the scifi, but Nighthawk is just supposed to be Marvel's Batman!

Until your post I had thought it was Darkhawk they were talking about.

I think Doctor Strange has a lot of potential but it requires having a certain vision to drive it. I'm not very familiar with them but I think Black Panther and Iron Fist stand a chance as well. I don't really see Cable, Nighthawk and Vision faring so well.

To be fair, that's all he was when he was created. It took some creative retconning to make him into baby Nathan.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they adapted either The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix or, preferably, Askani'Son.

On the other hand: Blade, The Incredibles, the numerous action films that have no brand recognition at all beforehand.

From the mass market perspective, Iron Man was "unknown" before the movie. People know: Batman, Superman, Spider-Man. Otherwise, they pretty much draw a blank, unless a big movie has been shoved in their face (X-Men).

X-Men spins off Wolverine. Wolverine spins off Deadpool. Deadpool spins off... Squirrel Girl!

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Doctor Strange could work. Maybe Black Panther. But I'm not too sure on the others. Cable is cool, and had a run in the mid-90s, but his backstory is way too complicated and I'm not sure how they'd be able to make it work with the X-Men universe that's been presented to us thus far.

But people that never read the comics would be constantly wondering when the Terminators would finally show up while watching the movie. ;)

I'm guessing that a lot of these will be low budget and direct to DVD. Few of them will spawn blockbusters like Iron Man or Spider-man. But as has been pointed out, Blade was a little known character before his successful movie debut, which was the first real Marvel cinematic hit - probably their most successful debut until Spider-man (and I include X-Men in that).

Two Words - Deadpool and Squirrel Girl: The Ultimate Team.

It could be a buddy movie in the vein of Lethal Weapon.

Isn't pretty much every major (and not so major) x-man licensed out to fox? At the least all of those who have appeared in the films? So a marvel produced cable would have to do without?

wouldnt Squirrel Girl be best suited to a Fantastic Four movie?

I have said it before on this forum but I think a "Great Lake Avengers" movie could inject some humour into the Superhero team up genre, in a movie similar in style to say BadNewsBears.
