My sister stopped by for a second and I missed the resolution, right after Clark leaped up ontop of the building, what happened, how did he stop Zatanna?

He kind of talked her down. She was going to sacrifice herself to bring her father back (but then Chloe got involved) but mostly he talked her out of it.

Chloe ends up officially joining the JLA as the communicator/Oracle.

Cool, thanks, yeah saw the very very end bit with Chloe commanding the league, very nice

After the bore-fest last week, this was actually a pretty good episode. Plus, the ending was effen awesome!!

Durance did an excellent job. I sometimes think people don't give her enough credit as an actor.

All in all:
solid B+

I gave this an excellent.
It was funny and very enjoyable for that. Durance doesn't do the body switch acting as well as some actors, but it was fun nonetheless.

Zatana was a bit wooden, and the conversation between her and Ollie at the end needed more buildup and interaction throughout the story, it felt a bit rushed, they should have known each other better. I think what I want is for Zatana to have been around for 3 or 4 episodes, and then have that conversation.

Chloe "becoming" Watchtower at the end sealed the deal for "Excellent" though, that is where she should be, where she should have been all along. Can't complain after that.

Oh, and Welling played it a bit looser, a bit more Metropolis Kent, not sheepish Smallville Kent, I liked him more than I have lately.

These writers really have no clue when it comes to newspapers, hospital, police, farming or anything else that's a commonplace on this show, do they? Hell, they couldn't even get a film set right. (And by right I don't mean accurate, I just mean apply something called common sense and make it passable for the purpose of your storytelling.)

My head's already about to explode.

We don't need to know about your sticky keyboard!!!!

I gave it an excellent. I WOULD have given it an excellent just for the last 2 minutes with Chloe finally becoming the Oracle-type character but the rest of it was very well done too!

I have to admit I had a MAJOR GEEKGASM when she said Wachtower Online. I love Justice League and these eps of Smallville where they do things like bring in Zatanna are so great to see. I have not felt this way from a show in a long time. I seriously got that 14 year old boy excitement feeling again...

Chloe could not kick more ass. I am completely warmed up to Durance now and I used to dislike her. I liked Clark in this ep...I liked Tess in the last one...this show is really running right if you ask me.

Well this episode definitely entertaining and yes magic does affect Clark its been told the the comics,TV shows etc. depending on what spell a magician may put on him.

As a matter a fact I just remembered a tale where a Witch Boy had put a spell to collect SupeBoy's soul, and made his body a scarecrow in a field.eventually he escaped returned to his body, and brought the witch Boy to his coven for their brand of justice for stealing SuperBoy's immortal soul.

For once I'm glad that Chloe made the plunge to become watchtower again that means will get some badly needed JL action racing to end of this fine season.

Well enough chatter next week the origin of Doomsday/Davis Bloome

Bye for now

Signed

Buck Rogers

Durance did a great job with some Chloe-isms. Fantastic job by her, actually.

Enjoyable episode...and Allison Mack was locked in at the end.

That was pretty cool.

This season has been pretty good, by Smallville standards anyway.

Like Voyager, I find that if I shut my brain off I can enjoy this show much more.

The writing is just as godawful but I find myself tuning in every week. With Voyager I couldn't even watch the whole show, I gave up after four seasons.

Bizarre.

Maybe because I don't expect much from this show. The writing is probably just as good as Lois & Clark or Superboy so there isn't really a high bar it has to meet.

I think the reason I gave up on Voyager had a lot to do with it running every week against Deep Space Nine, which had great writing and deep characterization.

Smallville is about as deep as most comic book stories, which is fitting. Plus, if they keep bringing in gals like Zatanna...

Anyone else notice this is the second Chloe birthday episode that had a magic theme and body-swapping? (The first was season 4, episode 8, titled "Spell") At least the insipid Lana was no where near this one. But I thought that Chloe was a Sagittarius. This episode makes her now an Aries.

Man, this episode gave me such an eye-twitch any time Lois and her fabulous reporting skills came up. I was hoping they would address the fact that everything has come easy for Lois. I mean, she met the freaking Dalai Lama?!? :scream:

Apart from that, solid Above Average for a Smallville ep. There were some missteps and some cool things that were spoiled beforehand that didn't end up happening (EDChloe running into Jimmy, tackling the mugger on the street), but overall I liked it.

Maybe Zatana can show up in a future episode and grant a wish that makes everyone not recognise Clark when he becomes Superman.

Personally, I think that should have happened here. With all the dual identity stuff they've been setting up recently, it would have been an ideal opportunity for Clark to don a pair of glasses and wish that everyone remembered him as just a mild mannered reporter, and failed to recognise him when he took the specs off to become Supes.

Still, not a bad episode overall.

Durance had Mack's little "eye games" down pretty well. The side looks, etc. Also the camera shot a little down on her as it does Mack. Nice subtle touches.

I'm not buying that Lois, the tabloid writer has become such a professional, well-traveled "professional" reporter now.

Also, Zatanna still owes Oliver a wish.

Hey guys way off topic......I manage a Burger King (sad I know) and I just found out today that we are getting the Star Trek promotion!!!! Toys and all!!!

Cool!! When do they start rolling those things out? Pretty soon, I'd imagine....

Also, Zatanna still owes Oliver a wish.

I don't understand how Zatana can walk around looking that good, and granting wishes to males, and she's not getting laid 24/7. She shouldn't have time to go looking for ancient tomes....

Now, Clark had her right in front of him and his natural wish was to just have one identity? That is soooo gay...

I'm hoping the Martian Manhunter takes a monitor shift once in a while...Chloevage can't be Oracle 24/7 and J'onzz has often played the role of League coordinator in several different incarnations of the JLA, comics AND animated.

Whoa, that episode was actually good! And Zatanna was cute as hell!

highlander, any chance you might ship some Trek stuff to France? ;)

He might not be flying but Clark has definitely reached the point where he's "leaping tall buildings in a single bound." If I recall, in the first comic, Superman couldn't fly but got around by leaping buildings.

Very true.

I really think that he is Superman now and that the Blue T-Shirt and Red Coat are as close as we're getting to the suit.
