The Office-Two Weeks

Samurai8472

Admiral
Admiral
As his new boss becomes even more watchful, Michael's behavior becomes increasingly careless, Pam deals with a difficult copier, and Kelly has a new crush.

From some of the spoilers, we could be in for some big changes like

Micheal starting his own rival paper company and a new receptionist

WTF. PAM quit her job to go work for MICHAEL? With his insane never-happen non-business in a failing industry in the middle of a recession? With the man who continues to sexually harass and demean her every single goddamn day? Leaving the chance to work with her fiancee? WTF? ... Aside from that, another episode that's a little more heavy than comedy but still good. I'm assuming (no spoilers) that Michael isn't actually leaving the show. Actually I expected when Pam ran out that they would all run out as one (I'm Spartacus!) and the walk out would get Michael his job back.

Yes, I think it's much more likely they are going that way - more or less - than switching the focus of the show from Dunder Mifflin to Michael Scott Paper or Michael leaving the show. They have started to make it appear like Stringer is losing control already; I think the branch goes up in flames, upper management will see their mistake of letting Michael go, fire Stringer and everything will return to normal again.
Maybe they make a couple episodes in between about Michael, Pam (and possibly Jim?) struggling with the new company for comedic effect.

I was thinking that perhaps Michael's new business would be successful (much to everyone's surprise) and gets bought out by Dunder Mifflin.

I like the idea of Pam going with Michael. It gives her a chance to grow beyond just being a receptionist. Also, Michael was the only one from the office to support and encourage her art early on, so it makes sense that she'd want to support his dream (as crazy as it is) in return.

Edit to add: We had some bad weather in my area last night so the local station cut away for a weather update just as the final scene started. What happened? The last I saw Charles was starting to say something about recent turnover.

Lol at Kevin as receptionist and Stanley as productivity czar. The preview in two weeks was funny

Kevin- i'll transfer your call, Oscar it's your MOM!"

I thought Pam and Micheal walking away would be like the end of "The Graduate" Michael crawling around was hilarious.

Jim-I'll bring your stuff home

sounded like Pam was going over to friends house

Andy's little move by copping Dwight into the discussion about Micheal's new business was genius.

I have a sneaky feeling you might have nailed what happens through the rest of the season...I bet too that they leave the fate of Michael, his company and the branch up in the air at the end of the season. Maybe a season finale cliffhanger with DM going under or the Scranton branch closing. I just hope that if they do end up with a big reset and Michael and Pam return to the office, that they at least run it out over more than a couple of episodes.

And regarding Pam's jumping of the ship, they've estabilshed since she and Roy broke up that Pam is much more likely to indulge her impulses. And they set up little hints throughout that she was at the edge of being completely fed up with being the receptionist too...I bet that if Michael ends up back at the branch that Pam will end up in some other role, maybe as a salesperson for DM.

At least in that final second as Pam walks away there's a falling look on her face as she realizes the horrible, horrible mistake she's made. I'm surprised Jim didn't try to talk her out of it. I know he's not a controlling boyfriend but she's throwing her job away in the middle of a recession!

He's also kinda the only one in there (besides Jim) that's ever encouraged her artwork in any way - he's the only one that showed up to her art show, then bought her painting of the office. That clearly made a big impression on her in that episode. And when he said, "Are you really being the best you can be here?" that clearly affected her, since her return from art school she's not really done anything besides settle back into her old, unhappy routine.

So while, yeah, going with Michael is probably a dumb move and she'll probably realize that very quickly, I can understand why, in the spur of the moment, she might do such a thing.

Plus they bonded during road trip. I agree with what you said. As much on the surface crazy it may seem its all win for Pam, hopefully.
Its been well known she hates her job. She has wanted more for awhile and whether it be in art or now a possible salesperson its better than "Dunder Mifflin how may I help you"

Liked this episode alot better than last week. Looking forward to seeing where they go with this.

I'd rather work in an unfilling job side by side with my fiancee than take a risk on a potentially disastrous and miserable venture that might offer a little more freedom. Hell, that's precisely what I did for four years!

I was sure that there would be a Jerry Maguire reference, with the guy leaving and the woman accepting his offer to come work with him as he started a rival business.

The seeds of the new guy's destruction were planted, with his appointments.

It'll be a few shows.

^^^ He appointed Stanley the productivity czar and made Kevin the receptionist.

Yeah, I actually hit cancel the second after I hit post as I realized what he meant... but it was too late! :p

I liked at the end how everyone is looking out the window and Stringer joins them to watch, maybe the office is starting to rub off on him in a small way. I like the character and would be interested in seeing him stay.

As interesting as DM going under and Michael having his own company I like the dynamic that having an authority over Michael brings.

Wish they would change the opening credits, I can't remember the last time I saw Novak in an episode. In fact, what did happen to Ryan?

^From the previews for next week it looks like Ryan will appear.

But yeah, they should change the opening. I liked the one they used for the Superbowl episode...don't know why they couldn't just keep that one.
