You're right, the dirt hole was pre-history, the Dharma period was the well being filled in with rocks. Still, I don't think the seven of them could remove that long long tunnel full of heavy rocks by themselves. ... And as I recall Chang acted like he was expecting to find the Donkey Wheel in the opening scene. He certainly seemed to be an authority on time travel at that point.

I really enjoyed this episode. Even is Ben does not die, it just adds to all the animosity that Ben carries against Sayid (probably why he engineered the killing of Sayid's wife,is this true or my theory, I lose track with this show)

My favorite part? Hurly's Dharma patch with the chef's hat in the middle. Is his Dharma station called The Griddle?

I felt is was below average for the most part, then there was an unexpected twist at the end which bumped it up to Average. Yeah, it is a cheap shot because we all know that Ben is going to be revived just like Locke was, but it was still unexpected and it is good that a show can still surprise me five years in.

To me, this episode harkened back to the days of the "art of the stall." For example, Kate's statement that she didn't know why everybody else came back but she knew why she came back. But of course she didn't go on to explain exactly what that was. Typical LOST bullshit.

It was abundantly clear to me that she was talking about Sawyer. Seemed abundantly clear to him, too.

Well I guess I"m just dense then, because it wasn't clear to me. You may be right, but I'm not convinced it's that simple, if for no other reason than we don't know what happpened to Aaron. It looks like to me there's more going on with Kate than just a desire to come back and bone Sawyer.

Are we supposed to start finding the Dharma-ites unsympathetic? Their vote to kill Sayid just struck me as another step closer to coldblooded - especially Ethan's mom. (surprised she didn't raise her hand and then the baby's hand) So when the purge comes - will we shed a tear (except for Horace)?

That was an amazing role, and I'm still under the impression they had a falling out with the actress or something, because it looked to me like they were setting her up for something big and then dropped the ball.

Interesting that you point that out becasue it's struck me that that between the Others/hostiles. Dharma, Ben, Sayid, Widmore, they all seem to be a bunch of murders. Very few "good guys" in this show.

Above average. Although, not quite as solidly above average as the previous episodes. Still, an enjoyable hour of TV.

Sawyer right now is mainly interested in using his conman skills to maintain the status quo, his lifestyle in the community. That was set up before, although some doubted that was his main motivation. I think it's clear now that it is, and it'll obviously lead to conflict down the road. They're drawing up the lines now. I'm not sure about this plot thread. Seems like it could be make work to generate plot without necessarily moving things forward. But, we'll see. So far so good, it depends how far they go with this.

As no doubt has been mentioned (but I haven't read the thread yet), the most hilarious part was Sayid telling the absolute truth but the whacko thinking he used too much truth serum!

Young Ben can't be dead can he?! Are they setting up a paradox? Or is young Ben not fatally wounded? That would seem to be a bit of a copout at this point. We'll see!

That's a good thought, and I've been wondering "Just what is Ben's deal?" But if they go that route, then how does that fit in with his surgery that jack performed?

Something tells me that being shot by his trusted Hostile buddy is going to turn Lil' Ben into the malicious bastard he is today. His trust was betrayed in the worst way possible. I bet next episode Alpert will find him in the jungle and heal him back to health, Island Willing.

I think you might be right about that. I was trying to figure out what the payoff was going to be. You can't really kill Ben in 1977 and break the time travel rules. However, if he just recuperates that's a bit lame as well. Yep, I think the ironic thing is that Sayid just created the Ben that he set out to kill.

Apparently they're in Ann Arbor. Did we know this before? I didn't recall that.

We knew the DeGroots were from Uni Michigan, and we've never seen them living on the Island yet. And the Blast Door Map mentions DeGroot inspections which suggests they only visit the Island every few years.

I rated this average. The past two or three episodes haven't been all that exciting. The last episode that was really good was the Jeremy Bentham one. The stuff with Sawyer, Juliet, and crew on the island and what went on for three years is a lot less interesting than I was hoping. Maybe it's just because I don't care much for the characters that stayed behind, but I thought that the reveals have been pretty boring for the past few weeks. This episode was better, so hopefully next week it will continue going up.
