Star Trek: Countdown TPB released this week

^I'd buy a monthly TNG book from IDW that deals with the crew in the post-Nem universe, in a heartbeat! I just don't want it to be a seperate timeline from the novels. I love how Pocket and Margaret are trying to keep all those books in line.

I've just learned that the Countdown TP has a hard street date of April 8th.

Whether or not a comic shop is going to hold to that when they get the book today, I don't know.

^I was just about to post the same news from TrekMovie.

Here is the breakdown: Countdown Issue #4 comes out next week on April 1st (available in comic shops and via the Android and iTunes). Then a week later the trade paperback comprising all four issues comes out (in book stores and on Kindle II on April 7th, and in comic shops on April 8th). NOTE: That these are the most current official release dates from IDW, but it is possible that some retailers let the TPB out early.

Christopher, shops are going to receive the trade today.

Whether or not shops hold the book until the 8th is an open question. There's nothing to prevent them from selling it as soon as they get it. I can't think of any way that a sanction against a comic shop would work.

^I wasn't claiming any such thing. I was simply providing the TrekMovie quote in order to corroborate what you said. If you have some disagreement with something in the quoted passage, take it up with Anthony Pascale.

Interesting... I think I'll stop by my usual shop and see if they're selling it yet. My TPB card is close to full, meaning I'll be able to get one for free soon -- perhaps I'll make it Countdown.

Sorry, Christopher, I didn't mean to imply any disagreement with you.

The only disagreement I have is that Anthony is implying that the book isn't out in the wild until the 8th, when that's anything but true.

This is the only time I've been buying the comics, so I could keep up with the discussion, and it backfired on my. I got #1 and #2 no problem but #3 has sold out at the comic book store by my house and the one by my work. I'm not planning on scouring the city looking for #3 so I'm just going to hold off until the TB comes in like I normally do.

I'm so tempted to call Borders to see if they broke the street date, but any time I do that I sound ten times more nerdy than I like to.

Well, I asked the girl at my regular store if the TPB had shipped this week, and she said it hadn't -- she also mentioned that she wouldn't necessarily trust anything she saw on Diamond's list. Apparently, they've been a little screwy lately (i.e. sending the shop stuff they never ordered, etc.). I don't know if that means it wasn't actually shipped this week or if it was just my usual place that didn't get it.

On the plus side, I did grab the 3rd hardcover volume of Angel: After the Fall, so that should tide me over for a little while. :D

I went by one of my local comic shops yesterday to pick up Issue 3 since I missed it last week and they didn't even have the TPB on the shelf whatsoever. They had the Beast Wars one for Transformers. I even checked B&N, they didn't have it either. They have been lacking on TPBs for Star Trek lately. I usually find all the recent ones released at Books A Million. So I think the 8th of April date is correct but I remember when the Transformers movie came out and they had 4 issues coming out different months too and well the TPB had come out before the last issue. So who knows.

It seems as though it didn't come out in Canada. Diamond's lists have been a little off lately, as quoted above, so the street date of April 8 is what they are expecting. Weird that IDW's E-i-C, Chris Ryall, said it was coming out...:shifty:

I don't usually buy comics or graphic novels (I either "borrow" from friends or libraries) but is this one worth owning?
