The Office-New Boss

Exactly. Despite odd and childish behavior, his branch was the only one keeping up in the poor economy.

I think the branch is succeeding in spite of Michael.

Imagine how well they could be doing without a pathetic twit distracting them.

Joe, bossy

Possibly. A competent manager would have fired both Dwight and Jim a long time ago, and lost their two best salesmen in the process.

Or he/she would have minimized the negatives just by existing and kept them on.

I doubt, for instance, Dwight would be pulling his major bullshit without a twit at the helm. And Jim wouldn't have hung around the reception area as much without a complete idiot in charge.

If Daddy's a moron, the kids act one way. If Daddy's a normal person, the kids act another.

Jim, yes...I think that if there were a competent boss, Jim wouldn't be "Jim". He'd have never worn the tux in the last episode had he known that the big boss was coming into the office. And apparently, Jim was well thought of enough that he could have had the corporate job that Ryan got had he wanted it.

Dwight, on the other hand, has shown that he is his usual self whether or not another boss is involved. The way he acted in the meeting with David Wallace after the fire drill incident this season, for instance, and going behind Michael's back to Jan earlier in the series. Dwight seems to be Dwight no matter who is in charge.

Under a competent boss, Jim would straighten up and Dwight would probably be quickly fired, regardless of his sales. Of course, in the real world, Dwight would have been long ago fired by corporate whether or not he was the top salesman...but then, Michael would have been fired too had corporate had any sense whatsoever... :)
