NFL free agency 2009

Of course, there's someone out there who will take him. Just like T.O, there is someone out there who will think they can ignore the real problem and hope he plays well.

Report is that the Patriots are in talks to trade the 34th overall pick (from the Cassel trade) for Julius Peppers. Talk about a stacked defense! :)

Holy God. Between getting Brady back, adding Fred Taylor, what is likely to be a defense-oriented draft, and now this ... that would be disgusting.

Dove Valley is the Broncos' headquarters.

Now dumb face Cutler is "demanding a trade"

I would be a very happy little panda if they got Peppers. He's a beast.

I like the Taylor and Springs pickups too. They just need a decent third receiver at this point.

The running back by committee worries me a little too.

Well, if the Patriots do get him for that 34 pick, then the KC trade for Cassel and Vrabel sure looks a lot better.

Between Galloway and the other pickup at WR (Lewis?), they appear just fine at the 3rd WR spot. Galloway, if healthy, would be a monster at 3rd WR. The RB thing doesn't really concern me at all. Moroney, Faulk, Morris, and Fred Taylor seems like a pretty good group, and it allows them to cover for injury, play a guy situationally, and use them all less so you get max production out of them. The Pats had one of the highest ranked productions out of the RB spot last year with a large mixed group, they might be onto something. I think the 1 RB workhorse thing is on its way out, at least for now. No one is really using it effectively anymore, they're all really at least a tandem thing. Bill's just spreading it out into a couple more guys. And it's a make or break year for Moroney, so that should get him in high gear, if he's gonna stick with the Pats, anyway.

They have a decent third receiver. His name's Wes Welker.

if healthy, Galloway could be that guy. Really, they just need the intermediate stuff, as MOSS is the homerun threat, and Welker is catching the shit underneath, so you need someone to stand 10-15 yards downfield if those options aren't there as the play develops...

Welker is a starter though, along with Moss.

I will miss their home run threat they had with Gafney.

I liked Gaffney quite a bit, an oftentimes reliable receiver, but it's hard for me to forget that gaffe with the missed reception in the game vs. Indy last year.
Then again, Moss had his fair share of missed catches as well, so...

If not Galloway, then who knows, Greg Lewis might somehow be inspired to do something with his career after his first 2 promising years with the Eagles.

Cheers.

Don't forget Kevin Faulk in the flat when all else fails...

Where did Galloway come from? He was great 10 years ago, but I haven't heard a peep about him in a long time.

How's Lewis's game? I have heard of him but don't know much about him.

Huh?
With Tampa, outside of the foot injury last year putting him on the sidelines for most of the season, he's had quite a notable career...

2005: 83 receptions, 1287 yards, 10 touchdowns
2006: 62 receptions, 1057 yards, 7 touchdowns
2007: 57 receptions, 1014 yeards, 6 touchdowns

I'm in AFC East country, we don't hear much about the NFC South here. Those are impressive numbers. Me likey!

thanks for the stats!

The Miami Herald is reporting that Donte Stallworth was driving drunk with a blood alcohol level of .12 when he ran over and killed a pedestrian last week. Miami police have not confirmed that yet.
