This was floating around my head today...

What do you guys think? I think it is interestig, anyway. :)

I'm really not trying to sound mean here, but... I've loved all your other work, and this is the first piece I've really thought looked terrible. I really can't tell what this is supposed to be, and if you hadn't named it, there's no way I would have guessed.

Ditch the twin saucers, and keep the design simple (three engines, bulkier secondary hull). The set up now makes the whole thing look like a deformed scrotum. Unfortuntely, it's definately not a Federation class homage.

I think I've seen this happen to frogs and lizards ;). nice work, but I just can't imagine a design like this happening in captivity.

Yeah, I just wanted to see how bad the reaction was going to be. :)

It's about like I thought. :)

I think I am going to go with one slightly oval saucer, if I continue to work on this. :)

Well, at least you can still emote a smiley.

The one thing I take from this I would like you to keep is the sweep up to the third nacelle. Keep that back on the primary hull, and see how it looks.

For a 'quick' version to see how to go, I would recommend just swapping back the regular saucer (remember, the JJ version is already the size of the Federation class saucer), and add about 30% to the length of the secondary hull. Try that, and see how it comes out.

You know, I'm probably in the minority here that doesn't mind the double-secondary hull of this:

It makes sense to me in the math formula where saucer=habitat, secondary=power and storage and nacelles=speed.

That said, while it is at first visually jarring, I could see a two-saucer ship with four nacelles being some kind of long-range colony ship.

Of course the counterargument is why not just design a bigger saucer or bigger secondary hull instead of using modular components, but aren't modular components part of the fun?

I'm rambling, but if you're going to JJ the Federation, I think you should go with one saucer, classic FJ style. I would also like to see you try to do the Proxima I posted above. ;)

Yeah, I think I will go back to basics on this one.

I like that Proxima... I remembered liking it from Legacy.

I may have to do something similar.

Yeah, I have to say I really like the way the Starfleet makeup is depicted in Legacy (except the Enterprise era :p) so much so that I've tried to reconcile how much it's possible to be 'the' way it is, game non-canon aside. I personaly see Starfleet as having three to six Proximas as battleships to compliment twelve to twenty-four less powerful Federation dreadnoughts.

I digress. :)

Well I think you should just keep adding more and more bits, increasing the hideousness. Like there clearly aren't enough nacelles. I think each primary hull needs its own nacelle. And huge phaser cannons like the AGT Enterprise-D.

There are plenty of threads with cool looking ships...why not one utterly ridiculous one?

^ Yes... move the shuttle bay to your in-betweener hull so that the doors open at the back where most ships keep their impulse engines. That way shuttle pilots have to fly between 3 nacelles and a secondary hull on their way in. It'll be great fun.

I like this idea. :D :techman:

Hmmmm...... That would be awesome. :)

Oh well, I decided it was too hideous to work on. I'm busy helping Vance, now. :)
