Why do we like Star Trek so much -- enough to create artwork, fan films and fan fiction, and enough to continue to engage in non sequitur debates about every last cubic nanometer of the Enterprise? As my web site demonstrates, I've done a lot of the above myself, and I'm certain that I'll continue to do so in years to come.
But why? Why don't we do this for other sci-fi media franchises? I consider myself to be more of a sci-fi fan than a Trekkie, but I've never created a web site for any other media franchise, and I've never obsessed over any other franchise to the extent that I have over Trek. I don't consider Trek to be much if any better than many of the other sci-fi media franchises that I enjoy, so I ask again:
Why Star Trek?
