Has there ever been a time when you were watching Star Trek(s) and at the end, when Kirk-Picard-Janeway-Sisko-Archer give some 'so called' great speech, making some grand point, and you just wanted to just grab a bullhorn and scream..

How dare he lecture Macet--as if just because Macet's Cardassian, he can't POSSIBLY understand loyalty! And what's more, Macet was right and Picard--and O'Brien--were wrong! You just DON'T let old loyalties blind you when someone's acting like Maxwell.

He's VERY lucky Macet was a gentleman enough not to punch him in the face right then and there for that insult. Especially after Picard's lollygagging got Cardassian ships blown up not once but twice (I mean, Warp FOUR? What the HELL? And then ASKING MAXWELL NICELY to follow him home? PLEASE!).

But worst of all--"Who Watches the Watchers." The instant he decided he had to take a swipe at ALL religions and not just the particular situation he was in--SHUT THE HELL UP!

When you ended your post with SHUT THE HELL UP, I flashed onto GORDON RAMSEY yelling at one of his dumb cooks...I could totally see him yelling at Picard in that situation..

May I suggest some time spent luxuriating at a spa? Or in quiet contemplation in a monastry?

You can always use the off-switch or stop listening in...that's if it's getting too much for you.

Saluting works as well. Or didn't you realise it's all in the chain of command? The Upper Eschelons have the right to say what they like...works like a charm in sorting out the men from the boys.

That infamous wheat from the chaff. Like I said, there's always alternatively, the off-switch.

NO KIDDING!!!

It's interesting, if you watch "The Wounded," to see just how differently Marc Alaimo acts when he plays Macet, than when he plays Dukat. Even the vocal and physical mannerisms are totally different--none of that swagger or that tendency to proclaim everything he says as holy writ. Thank goodness for Picard's sake he was dealing with the sane cousin!

I don't get a superiority vibe from Archer. Not even from the gazelle speech. Remember, it was he who wanted to help those aliens in "Dear Doctor" for example - it was *Phlox* who was acting all high and mighty.

Archer would be the first one to fight *against* such a thing. He's spent his whole life dealing with it - from the Vulcans.

^ Really? As I recall from the first season onwards Archer would often start a speech with "That's not how humans behave" or something similar. Then, halfway through he would stare aggressively at T'pol and frown at the rest of the Bridge crew during the speech.

My favorite archer speech has to be Mirror Archer's humans are conquerors not explorers screed. The way he hissed out 'conquerors' cracks me up every time.

Said social evolution should've included some TOLERANCE.

He was right to address the issue of direct cultural contaminations. If the Mintakans abandoned a certain tradition on their own, then obviously reviving it was a problem. But then following on to suggest that EVERYONE who follows a religion is basically a caveman/woman is really out of line. It was an unnecessary insult I would think someone with "evolved sensibilities" would have evolved past.

Oh, and Thor...yeah, that is one of the MANY issues I have with Broca. I won't drag out my other issue with him in here because I know it'll derail the thread really badly, but if I haven't told you what my other problem with Broca is, PM me and I'll explain there.
