Casting for the live action Star Wars tv show begins...

WOW! This series is ''REALLY'' going to happen!? I hope it's better then Eps 1,2,3! But I doubt it.

I have to say, I've been so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Clone Wars CGI series that it's possible, just possible, that the live action show might be good as well. Glad to hear production may actually happen.

This series has got to ROCK! I hope...

Anyway, how many years do they have to play with between episode III and IV?

I want to be Stormtrooper 1138...so long has he gets the hot heroine in the series and doesn't get shot in the first 3 seconds of the pilot.

Well it's "Star Wars" it's either going to rock, or suck harder than a hoover with a V8 engine. Let's face, there is seldom any middle-ground in regards to that with Star Wars productions.

^ If I recall correctly its supposed to be about the formation of the rebellion and will be set during the 19 years between films (all of those years). Lucas has planned 100 episodes; however, 400 have been proposed. It is being shopped specifically to channels like HBO and Showtime.

See I never take any of the "Lucas has planned" stories for anything at face value. As for shopping it to HBO and Showtime, frankly I see it ending up on Sci-Fi or Fox station. Unless he is really going to create a more adult-- and I don't mean sex, I mean a more gritty war/revolution driven story that doesn't skimp out on the "reality" of what the rebellion has to do-- Star Wars, I don't think it'd be a good fit for either or those.

I hope it's good because honestly this time frame (between III & IV) has never held any interest for me with the exception of the book The Rise of Darth Vader. Especially since it will have no major players, no Palps, no Vader, Organa. From what I understand it's just unknown secondary players... from what I've heard.

I'll give it a chance sure, here's hoping.

Assuming the writing doesn't totally suck - or even if it does - they should be able to lure some decent actors onto that show.

My picks: Wayne Pygram for Moff Tarkin is a no-brainer. I want to see Ben Browder as some eeeeevil Empire operative.

And they still are going with the no-Jedi rule? I hope that's just misdirection and there's a "surprise" to be revealed...

ding up on Sci-Fi or Fox station.

Star Wars just isn't premium cable material and to try to force it into that mold would result in something that might be interesting, but not what we want from Star Wars.

They say there will be no Darth Vader, or Jedi, but isn't that what they said about a particular bounty hunter being a series regular? I could see the first episode being Fett bringing a prisoner to the Empire, but he escapes, and in a suprise twist turns out to be a Jedi. A best guess would be that the story takes place on Alderaan. with Bail as the central focus. The series has so much potential. Vader MUST be in at least the pilot episode. Perhaps coming back every season finale, or if he's a large part of the story. Not having either the Emperor, or Vader at all would be dumb. You could even have Vader's destroyer pursuing our heroes, and never see him. His presence alone could make for great drama. It would be great for HBO to get this series. It means no comercials, and the writers can push as far as they want to with the story.

It's about time.

However, I don't like the idea of no Vader or Jedi. While it maybe shouldn't be the focus, a show about what the escaped Jedi did might be interesting. And then having Vader track them, or at least Boba Fett, would be great.

We don't really need the "Lower Decks" of Star Wars.

I just want a rip-roaring fun time with the Galaxy's double-crossing-est scoundrels avoiding the Empire. A show with a bunch of Han, Chewie, Lando & Greedo types. After loving the Clone Wars cartoon, which shouldn't have been as good as it is, I have more faith in Lucasfilm.

Good news is since they're independently financing it, they can shop it to whatever channel with little worries that other shows like Dollhouse and T:SCC face.

Plus, it'll probably be filmed in LA, so none of Vancouver's finest making guest appearances. Sorry Kevan Smith, Steve Bacic, Kandsye McClure and everyone who's ever played a Goua'old.

So, 'Firefly'? :)
