Hahaha, @Captain X, realism, really?
Yup, so sayith the great Abrams while qualifying everything he's done for this movie.
Warp
Teleporters
Phasers
Large Spaceships
Shields
Time Travel
etc.
So? You're talking about technological plot devices in a sci fi, I'm talking about the actual plot itself using knowledge I gained during my time in the military.
Please don't talk about realism in the chain of command anymore.

I have just as much a right to state my opinions as you do, live with it.
We all know you were dead set against this movie from the beginning,
Actually, at the very beginning when it was announced that JJ Abrams was making a new Star Trek movie, I was pretty excited, mostly because he didn't seem like a complete loser and because his name wasn't Berman or Braga. But as information came out about the movie, my opinion changed, and if you've noticed, I always qualify my opinion. So the usual theory of "he just hates it" that takes all of twelve brain cells to think up just doesn't describe what's happening here.
now you're just nitpicking like no other.
I'm being critical, yes. Nitpicking would be like noticing Data was missing a rank pip in one scene or something. I'm criticizing the implausibility of a cadet ever being placed in command of a ship, let alone one on the verge of getting kicked out.
I feel sorry for you that you won't let yourself enjoy what will undoubtedly be one of Star Trek's finest films.
And I feel sorry that you feel the need to give anyone critical of the movie grief just because they aren't falling all over themselves to watch a movie because of what the title is.
