DC Animated Direct-to-DVDs

Now that Wonder Woman is out and Green Lantern has been announced, is there any indication of what else is in the works? I've seen some rumors about Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and another Batman title, but outside of worldsfinestonline.com in August I haven't seen any confirmation of either of these. I also have a hard time believing there would be two Batman titles back to back.

Is there any news I've missed on future DVDs? Any speculation on other titles in the works?

There were rumors of "Kingdom Come", but I can't remember if that was a real rumor or just people on this board saying they wanted it.

Public Enemies has been confirmed as the next release. There's been a lot of talk about more Batman projects, I'm not sure how much of it official.

I heard about a Teen Titans release dealing with a classic Wolfman/perez story line but that seems to have gone quiet. The DC releases seem very good so far and I hope they continue.

CaptainCanada, do you have a DC/WB url confirming Public Enemies? All I see is worldsfinestonline claiming they confirmed it, and that was 6 months ago. I guess the real confirmation will come when the DVD box art for Green Lantern is released.

Icemizer, Teen Titans has been put on hold. DC was concerned it wasn't a marketable enough brand.

Apparently DC was concerned about commercial potential (which is dumb, but whatever); Timm said in an interview recently that he expected it would get made at some point, but not for a while.

Public Enemies? The first storyarc of Superman/Batman? That's awesome! We're gonna get to see President Luthor in animated form!!!

How about we also list what is already out? I am sure I missed a few.
DC animated movies prior to the DC Universe line:

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998)
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000)
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003)
The Batman vs. Dracula (2005)
Superman: Brainiac Attacks (2006)
Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo (2007)

The DC Universe DTVs:

Superman: Doomsday (2007)
Justice League: The New Frontier (2008)
Batman: Gotham Knight (2008)
Wonder Woman (2009)
Green Lantern: First Flight (2009)

Gregory Noveck said that in Warners/DC market research The Judas Contract came last in the list of possible DTVs presented to the participants. He advised anyone who participates in such a market research survey to always vote for properties other than Batman and Superman since they're going to get made anyway. Throw support to other properties instead to convince Warners that there's enough interest in them to support a DTV release.

The New Frontier was one of the best DCAU DVDs released, IMHO, and I'm glad they're keeping up with Marvel. I might rent WW.

Personally I'm really hoping they're able to go back and do a JL/JLU movie or two.

Well Just League: Worlds Collide continues to be tossed around as a possibility, and Bruce Timm has said he'd like to return to his own animation style, so getting a JL/JLU movie is a possibility. Of course, at 6 months/movie and two confirmed projects in the pipeline it's going to be a while before we see a JL movie.

If I had to speculate on future dates/titles I'd probably say:

7/09: Green Lantern
2/10: Public Enemies
7/10: Aquaman or Flash
12/10: Green Lantern (Tied into the theatrical release), possibly Sinestro Corps War
6/11: Batman (Tied into theatrical release)
2/12: Justice League: Worlds Collide

The exact dates could vary a little based on marketing needs and other releases, and obvisoulsy this is all speculation, but I think this matches the general approach we've seen so far.

The only title really missing from this list is a solo Superman title. Personally, I'd love to see one, but unfortunately I haven't even seen any rumors one is under discussion.

From the release dates Warners has been setting for its major releases over the next few years there's a very good chance that the next Batman film will be in the summer of 2012 rather than 2011.

I think the next few releases after Green Lantern: First Flight could be:

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
Untitled Batman Project
The Flash
Justice League (either Worlds Collide or something not tied into the DCAU)
Green Lantern II (to coincide with the release of the live action Green Lantern)

Brainiac Attacks was so bad.

However...

-Superman: Doomsday
-Justice League: New Frontier
-Batman: Gotham Knights

were decent.

Hopefully Wonder Woman lives up to that track record.

I hate 'Brainiac Attacks.' An obvious mandate to try to capitalize on 'Superman Returns.' Horrible.

That said, I just watched 'Wonder Woman' last night and found it a surprisingly good refresh of WW's classic origin. Some of it feels like a retread of a couple of 'Justice League' plots, but it's still quite enjoyable. The animation was quite stylish, if the design seemed a tad simplistic at times.

I'm very excited about 'Green Lantern: First Flight.' Christopher Meloni and Victor Garber seem like good choices for Hal Jordan and Sinestro. The updates they seem to have made to the HJ costume seem pretty good, too. It still looks like Hal, but also feels more like a 'space cop' uniform.

I get some of the direct to DVD's through netflix and have been happy overall. Wish they would do the Teen Titans again.

Sinestro's always sounded British in my head, personally (partly because he was based on David Niven, visually).

Public Enemies is definitely a great premise for a story, though hopefully they'll be liberal in the adaptation, because, as a typical 21st century Loeb story, the actual execution was abysmal.

I think I normally hear a nasal British voice for Sinestro myself, actually. And agreed regarding Public Enemies' adaptation.
