A Moment of Silence, please, for "Street Fighter"

What I remember from Street Fighter (II, if I'm not mistaken; it's a long time ago) is that it's a video game in which some ninja's and whatnot (and some green monster dude) fight each other in one vs one matches. How does that translate into a movie? A wrestling match, maybe, but a movie?

The games actually have story to them; which you get to read by reading the character profiles, story if you beat the game with a character, and finally watching the opening in the next installment of the game.

These are actually GOOD stories.

As comics and Japanese anime movies and tv series have shown when they actually bring to life the game's story - including all the special chi-based moves.

Problem with any Hollywood honchos, writers and directors: the idiocy that they think they can do better than the actual creators of a wildly successful franchise by making it "more real" and incidentally ripping all the Asian philosophy on chi out of it. Basically taking the franchise, take its heart... and then rip it out.

Thanks.

I just read Massawyrm's review on AICN about it. The review is so funny I think I may Netflix this later just to see if it really is that bad. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40266

That was a fun review. It almost makes me want to see it, but not quite still.

That clip is pure, unadulterated awesome!

I was expecting this to suck but I didn't think it would suck so hard it would be hilarious! I'm almost considering plunking down some cash to see it!

How much did this thing cost to make? Who was the dummy that greenlit it in the frist place?

I just watched the clip. I thought the reviews were exaggerating about Charlie. Dear God...they weren't!!!

Should we start a pool to guess the first weekend gross for this travesty? Put me down for $2.3M.

It's really the only thing going this weekend. I say $9M.

It probably deserves 2.3 tho.

It made less than $5 million in the US this past weekend.

Beaten by Paul Blart Mall Cop and Taken, both over a month old and a Jonas Brothers concert movie.

Time to sign back up for Smallville, Kristen Kreuk.
