Stargate Universe creative consultant John Scalzi has posted in his blog the list of this year’s nominees for the Nebula Awards, which he described as “one of the two big awards in SF (the other, of course, being the Hugo).”

On the list in the “Scripts” category are:
  • The Dark Knight - Nolan, Jonathan; Nolan, Christopher, Goyer, David S. (Warner Bros., Jul08)
  • WALL-E” Screenplay - Andrew Stanton, Jim Reardon, Original story by Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter (Walt Disney June 2008)
  • The Shrine - Wright, Brad (Stargate Atlantis, Aug08)
And it's got some amazing company.

Which one was that? It wasn't the one with McKay being dragged around in the woods by the little princess, was it?

I was hoping David would get something for the episode i thought he was really good.

The Shrine was actually quite an excellent episode, so fully deserves the normination...

But how can they mix tv show episodes and full blockbuster movies?

I mean... "The Shrine" vs "The Dark Knight"? Or Wall-E for that matter? WTF?!

The Hugos used to be the same way before they were broken up and B5 won three in a row even against blockbuster movies. This are in the end book awards and it's just not very refined yet.

Great episode, but based on it's competition it doesn't stand a chance. Nice to be nominated though.
