Me Getting Violently Assaulted Has Been Resolved.

Ok, I'll sound off before going to bed, but I'm glad the incident where I was punched to the ground has finally be resolved. The two bit punk who decked me and sent me to hospital with a broken ankle bone has been done in the Crown Court for Grievious Bodily Harm. Thankfully I was spared the potential stress and embarassment of turning up in court to give evidence, though I did give a recorded statement to the fuzz.

Apparently the scumfuck who punched me was drunk, which is not exactly an Earth shattering revelation.

I am so glad to hear this. This gives me hope for my own future.

I'm glad they've nailed the guy. I hope you can find some peace now.

So, what are you going to do to celebrate this great news?

Excellent news, Ted (and well timed). I'm glad things worked out to your satisfaction. Definitely calls for a celebration. :bolian:

My god, what is with people anymore?
Glad it's resolved, Ted.

What might have been embarrassing about making an appearance in court, if I may ask?

What kind of sentence did he receive?

Well, apparently, if you look at a lot of the news on Yahoo's webpage, people are just angry, aimless ticking timebombs waiting to go off on anyone that irks them at exactly the wrong time. "Man Punches Indian Performer In The Face, Who Then Rolls Down Stairs, Hits Head & Dies", "11 Year Old Shoots & Kills 8 Month Pregnant Neighbor", etc.

I swear, it's got to be the hormones in the food.
Or maybe it's a byproduct of a civilized society. I don't know.

It's good to hear about one of these cases getting resolved.

I had a similar problem last year - a group of guys went for me in Glasgow after I walked my friends home and was waiting on a bus. The guys were never caught - oddly I was a few meters out of a spot being monitored on CCTV - but I was told I could make a criminal injuries claim.

I was just lucky they picked on the wrong guy.

It's the by-product of an uncivilized society. We have yet to evolve a civilized society.

What is it with violence against TBBSers? We are just a silly lot, not dangerous.

Well mostly.

I can take a lot of shit personally. But if you do the same to a friend or loved one, or even the proverbial damsel in distress, and I am around, well... the times it has happened, the attacker is usually spitting up blood in short order and screaming for mercy. It is one boundary that if crossed sends me off the handle nearly instantly.

I've read the other thread and I genuinely feel enraged at how you were completely fucked by the perfect storm of callousness, apathy, and criminal incompetence shown by all the parties involved (including the police). I feel genuinely grateful that the only raging cunt in my case was my attacker.

So, what are you going to do to celebrate this great news?

I may get compensation money to blow on a plasma screen and some other electronic goodies. :techman:

Very glad to hear this, Ted. GBH is a hard charge to convict on, courts have a tendency to bump it to ABH, even when the letter of the law says it most certainly is GBH (a broken bone should technically automatically be GBH, but it isn't always in reality...)
Also glad you were spared a court appearence - the point of extensive written witness statements is to avoid this wherever possible, you must have given a good one!
Congrats, mate.

Colour me stunned. ;)

Well it's not exactly fun is it? I have to do it quite regularly, and I'm not the best public speaker as it is. Butterflies every time.

What kind of sentence did he receive?

Sentencing is usually done later in our courts - unlikely they know yet. But I'd be itnerested to hear when they do. For interest's sake, GBH can carry up to life imprisonment. (It won't, in this case - but I just wanted to highlight it is a serious conviction)

Just to warn you - you may be able to buy a moon shuttle ticket with it by the time you get it. It's not noted for its speed.

Glad to hear you've got this resolved.

Yeah really. We have a simpleton in Mass who killed a man after drinking and was let go because he is too dumb to understand the charges. So much for protecting the public.

Glad you made out better.

The attack took place late afternoon/early evening on a Monday, so you've got to be in a pretty sad state to get uncontrollably drunk and/or high in that part of the week.
