I mostly buy my stuff from Old Navy. They just fit well. Sometimes I'll venture on over to Kohl's if I need something a little nicer. I'm usually just a collared shirt and jeans type of guy though.
Don't know how I didn't see this thread before!
I guess I've gradually moved up the clothes food chain over the years, but I still like to feed at all levels since occasionally you can find specific items at excellent QPR on the lower rungs.
Nowadays, most of my suits and odd jackets are made-to-measure or bespoke from Ede & Ravenscroft. However, I still like to shop the designer outlets (and am lucky enough to have a fantastic outlet mall near me) so have a fair few suits & jackets from the likes of Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Ermenegildo Zegna and so on. Odd trousers, often from Ralph Lauren either Purple Label or Polo.
Shirts, most are currently Zegna, though I've recently started getting bespoke from Rayner & Sturges via an intermediary who does the visiting tailor thing, saving me travel costs.
Shoes - Salvatore Ferragamo's Tramezza line, John Lobb Paris & Edward Green make up the bulk of them.
Ties - anywhere really, as long as I like the pattern and the quality of the silk.
Socks - Pantherella, Falke and good old M&S!
I still get my boxer briefs from M&S too!![]()
"Mike, you got it all wrong!"
(not really, but I couldn't resist finishing the quote!)
OK a couple of pics, showing that you don't necessarily need to spend a lot of money to find nice things (although it's a lot more fun to do it that way). But two fairly economical looks from last week:
First photo (with estimated percentage discount I got them for, if applicable):
![]()
Next jacket 50%+
Zegna shirt 30%
Brioni pocket square 80%
Ralph Lauren Polo bow tie 85%
Zara sweatervest
Second photo (again with % discount):

Ralph Lauren Purple Label jacket 90%
Sulka shirt 90%
Old School tie
Zara cardigan 20%
Those looks won't be to everyone's taste, but the point I'm making is that even if you like to get nice items, you can still find them for sale (new, with tags) at big discounts if you search around a little. And that even typical High Street mid/low-end shops sometimes have real bargains if you keep your eyes open.
Somewhat more pricey outfit from last week:

Ede & Ravenscroft jacket
Sulka shirt 90%
Topman waistcoat
Ede & Ravenscroft pocket square
Liberty tie
I could never buy clothes online. It's rare enough for me to find clothes that fit properly in the store. I couldn't buy them online without trying them on first.
Once you find something that fits the way you want it to, no big deal.
I know what base size suit I need. It comes to my house (no shipping cost) and I take it into the local shop to get it altered. In my mind, same as buying in the store.
Oxfam.
NOT
That's pretty dumb. Thrift store shirts should cost $2 max.I love shopping at thrift stores, but the thrift stores around here are ridiculous. The other day I was browsing and I saw a nice shirt that fit me (2x. I like extra room). Price? $5. Price if I bought it new in a store? $8. Sure that's $3, but it's just not right.
