I now Love the the internet.

Dialup from ~93 'till '03. Went from dial up to cablemodem (broadband) in '04 or so and haven't looked back. I love downloading at a sustained 1.1MB..... (but, on the same token, I hate RoadRunner's bandwith throtteling on downloads)

I'm in New Zealand. We're still waiting.

Well, we do have broadband. It just works as dial-up speed, apparently. Especially wireless.

Ditto here, in what few areas have Broadband, it doesn't go above 1-2 megabytes in most cases. Still on dialup here.

I gave up dial-up at least 10 years ago. Since then, I've done DSL at home, high-speed whatever I had in the dorms at college, and finally cable (with a wireless modem) the last couple years.

I never experienced dialup...
Got Cable internet straight away in 2001 because i knew my mom wanted to get rid of the landline...
Right now my top speed is 16Mbps/2Mbps which is quadruple of what i started with...

Speedtest:

Right now i'm watching a live feed from Dutch news about an airplane crash near Schiphol...

I only got a high-speed connection about 6 months ago, and I've been on the internet since 1992!

Not thrilled with the upload but it works okay for me.

I've had either DSL or cable since about 1999. I had to use dial-up the other day and I almost shot myself.

Roger's Cable?

Are you stealing my internet?! :scream:

Maybe. I was stealing someone's until last week when I caved and ponied up for my own service

The nerve of my neighbours' pirated wireless not being reliable enough for me! ;)

^Don't you hate that?

I moved into an apartment complex with a ton of neighbors. I figured at least one of them would have a decent WiFi connection that wasn't password protected! Alas, I had to get my own...

I don't think Verizon would allow Superman pooping and/or masturbating, and the target audience might be confused by the commercial.

JAyson used to make those threads, I recall. What would happen if Superman farted and the sort. Not seen any in a long, long, long while though.

Who is it exactly that regulates Broadband speeds and what does it take to upgrade line speed cause where I live my line only gets me between 6Mb and 7Mb but yet you can get DSL speeds of upto 50Mb in, I assume, in major towns and cities? How many have actually have Virgins 50Mb broadband for example at home?

To me it's like Internet speeds may have gotten faster but comparitivley there still the same as when everyone was on dial up, either on 28.8k(8Mb), 56k(10Mb) or 128k+(20Mb+).
