Klingon Must Rank...

K'riq Sa

Commodore
A company has requested to come and film the event, documenting basically people who are interested in people who Live vicariously through their addiction to Sci-Fi, and other ilk.

Dean Labs Entertainment (www.deanlabs.com), a film production company, has funded a documentary project that focuses on alternative entertainment across the country. We would like to bring a cameraman and one host to The Klingon Bloodwine Festival to document the event. Would it be possible to get an interview with someone that is knowledgeable about this event? Also, any additional information regarding dress code and special events would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

The Dean Labs Teamgroup

of course I said yes...
Klingons take every photo op presented, so if you, or your club would be interested in coming, and doing an interview, please contact them and hit me back.

Hm...the way you phrase that makes me wonder, though. Are you sure they're not out to try and portray you guys in a negative light? I'd be careful if I were you.

Not that we don't do that well enough without help, but they are looking at things people are doing that's fun and outside of the box. Besides if I even got the hint of that, I will say there's a dress code and have them dress as Betazed wedding guests...

Here is the replay...

Hi Rick!

My name is Jeremy Dean from Dean Labs Entertainment, and I'm directing this documentary project. Thanks so much for responding! I've attached our simplified call sheet as a word doc and pdf for your convenience.

I'm very much interested in capturing what your event is all about, so whether that includes "general sci fi folk" or Star Trek purists, all are welcome to be included as long as you think it adds to the overall spirit of the festival.

One of the things we like to do when we attend an event like this is to have our hostess, Jenny Dean, arrive in casual clothes and then dress up to blend in with the crowd at some point during the day. Will there be a place for her to change into a costume that we would supply? And/or, would there be anything available at the actual event to help her better blend in with the crowd in the way of costume, make up or props?

As far as interviewees go, I'm mainly interested in documenting two aspects. The first being getting as much information about your event as possible, and secondly giving our viewers a strong sense of what it's like to actually be there. That being said, being dressed up and in character is not a requirement for being a good candidate for an interview, but it would greatly add to the entertainment factor. :)

Thanks so much for your help, Rick!

they sound sincere, what do you think...

they sound sincere, ...

They always do.

I don't know these guys one way or the other, but you might want to ask yourself if you are comfortable allowing somebody to come in and film but then having no say in how the product of that filming is used. I don't think I would care for that situation myself. I'm sure some agreement could be reached that would allow for you to have final say in whether the footage is used or not

Oh yeah. Not in writing? Never happened. Remember that.

My take as well. The undercover part is particularly worrisome because unless you happen to be able to get her changing and warn the participants, she could cause all kinds of PR havoc.

Definitely get final editorial say, or else no deal.

Beware is all I can say. Sounds a right set-up.

On a side note, I completely misread the thread title at first. It did not conjure up a pretty picture
