    Okaies.. current thoughts..

On the Klingon NuD-7, add a couple of 'support struts' below the connection of the pylons and the engineering hull. This will bulk it up a little and make it flow more without dramatically altering the overall form. (They would only show in the bow, really, like a smoothed pair of trusses on each side.)

The SB, lower the ventral assembly down by about it's own length, and use some of the Reliant's parts (the shuttle-bays, etc) to make the lower assembly into something more pragmatic in function. Keep the upper largely as is, but add windows and 'habitation' details.

The quadrants definately need 'bumps' like I mentioned before. I would consider adding an outward structure to each of the quadrants, to allow for tether docking. Make it match the gangway on the Enterprise in size and scale.

    Hope this helps. :)

It does. I was thinking of those being big round "space doors" on the top and bottom, for small ships to enter. The Enterprise of course, would be way too big. :)

I like the idea of the "Gangways" on the outsite habitation pods. I am thinking bout putting solid domes on them now, and windows along the outside.

Can you edit an image to show what you mean on the Klingon ship? I think I know what you mean, but I'm not sure.

Something that was unitended with this station, is that it's starting to look like Regula One. :)

A very quick and dirty job from the bow is on...

The truss shouldn't be more than a support beam in width on the underside, so it won't too dramatically affect the underside textures. Having it match along the 'split' of your hull raised textures seems to be the best bet.

Oh, I see what you are saying.

I'll look into that. I already have an idea. :)

OK, been working on the starbase some.

I decided that I like the mushroom starbase. :) I thought I would try and mesh it with regula one. :)

I think this makes it look bigger, too. Still, it won't be large enough for full sized starships to enter, but rather that parts would be fabricated inside, and pulled out later.

    A couple of more things...

I am working on the detail around the pod areas, and found inspiratoin in a Cylon Base-Star. :)

I made up some of these, for a sense of scale.

    :)

I know at this scale, the windows appear pretty big. I thought that was a good idea, thinking that around the outside of the station, it would have big observation window along the outside, instead of personal room windows. Does that make sense? EDIT: On second thought, they are about the same size as on the Enterprise. Never Mind. :)

One more before I turn in. :)

Wanted to see how it looked if multiple ships showed up.

I think I'm 90% done with the modeling. This thing needs a name, any suggestions?

The docking hatch should be on the port side of the saucer on the Enterprise. :)

I'd call it something like "the hub".

    It is...

Hmm..looking at the station next to the ships it makes me think maybe you should make it much bigger ?

Other than that it's shaping up nicely.

Port, yes. But it looks like it's docked somewhere on the secondary hull.

Not that I care at all. Looks great to me.

I'm not sure if the new ship has that int he same place, because there are windows there, on the saucer, now. :)

I've got both ships plugged into the round "docking ports" that we see on the neck and the Secondary Hul..

I don't know, I always thought the star bases in trek were a little oversized. This one is larger than Regula One, but not a lot.

It's not intended to be the main starbase in Earth Orbit... I was thinking it would be somewhere out on the frontier.

You should have each arm of the station on a sifferent level, so that each arm may swing and move along the outside ring. This way if something larger comes into park, they can swing the arms and make more room. Or swing the arms so that two arms can connect to one ship.

    Just an idea.

It's a perfect 're-imagining' of something like the K-7, only with four pylons instead of three. :) It's not supposed to be SB-1

Hmm, that is an idea. I think that the entire structure would have to be much larger to accommodate multiple rings, though.

    Thanks. :)

K7 was exactly what I was thinking about.

I would add the gangway, even if the movie doesn't have it on the model. It's one of those big functional details that makes perfect sense and adds some realism to the ship, as well as the very nature of the saucer itself.
