Isaac Asimov's "Clone Song": a large serving of awesome

Gaith

(In case it's copyrighted, I'll not link to it, but it shows up pretty easily on searches.)

Wow. I had not previously realized that one could take a male genome, remove a chromosome and be left with a complete female genome.

The actions proposed in the ditty are admittedly... unrealistic. But how awesome would it be for us guys to give a DNA sample and be shown a digitized approximation of what the above process' result would look like?

(Back in Smallville's early years, I wanted them to do a Supergirl-esque ep in which Clark zaps into an alternate reality where a female Kryptonian landed on Earth, and basically lives Clark's life, but as a girl. (I know about the Karas they did in S3 and S7 and all, but this would have been different.))

Anyhow, just a fun little thought exercise... :p

Having sex with yourself is featured in both "By His Bootstraps" by Heinlein and The Man Who Folded Himself by David Gerrold, though in those cases it's via temporal manipulation and alternate universes...

I think it's a common fantasy among teen sf fans...they're mainly having sex with themselves anyway, but they've discovered that there are too many places they can't reach.

If you make love to yourself due to temporal anomaly, does god still cry?

Well, it would be interesting.

I could only hope I'm as funny as I think I am. I could use a good laugh. Also, having another me would making writing shit like 4 times easier.

Close, but it was Heinlein's All You Zombies that had that. By His Bootstraps had a lot of time-travel with a guy meeting himself, but he didn't do any naughty stuff. At least I'm 95% sure...I haven't read either in 15 years.
