Matt Smith signs 5-year deal

You mean the same Sun that has been astonishingly accurate in its reporting of Doctor Who since the new series began?

It's a shit paper, don't get me wrong, but they've been mostly reliable for Who news.
 
Seems feasible to be honest, though I'd have expected maybe 2 years with an option for another 2. Shows how much faith Moffat and co have in Smith anyway and it doesn't really mean that much, if Smith desperately wants to leave after 2 years, or if he's rubbish and the Beeb want to get rid after a year then the contract will be easily gotten around.

Of course what it does probably mean is that if Smith is (fingers crossed) bloody brilliant, then the Beeb likely have him cheap for the first three years :lol:
 
I wouldve thought he wouldve been signed on for 2 years with an optional 3rd.

But then, this is The "Most accurate and reliable news source since Nostradamus" Sun. So anythings possible.

Utter bollocks.

The Sun's accuracy rate has been 20% at best, and even then they've either broken the embargo date on official Press Releases or lifted their stories straight from the DWO Spoiler Forum.

It's true - I was chatting to <- that information is not available at your security clearance -> , who has been in discussions about <- that information is not available at your security clearance -> season 5 the other night, who confirmed that Matt was contracted for three seasons, though he didn't say anything about the "option for another two" - which wouldn't really make it a five-year deal anyway but just a three year one with first refusal on another two...
 
I'm not sure I'd want any doctor to do 5 seasons. I think 3 or 4's about optimum really...then again even with 5 years he'll still be younger than Tennant was when he started :lol: (approx)
 
I'll agree that it shows the team have faith in Smith to give him the contract if all is true. It just makes me more curious to see that faith backed up when his show starts.

It's not faith it's economics - he's being paid peanuts, so it's cheaper to lock him down now at the lower rate and pay out if he's awful than get him to sign an extension after two years if he's fantastic.
 
Well assuming this is true, I'm just happy to hear the new Who is going to be around another 5 years period. Regardless of who the Doctor is.

Even with the great ratings, I was never really sure if this was just a short-lived thing or if they really planned to keep the show going as long as possible.
 
I visit and post on OG on a fairly irregular basis. The general negativity when a new episode or special shows just wears me down after awhile.

And personally I hope the stories true. I really don't want another Eccelston type 'Well thats my one series, I'm outta here!' situation to ever happen again.
 
All the negativity on OG made me log in to have a giggle over some of the fun complaints/arguments they have. I haven't logged in since November (apparently) so I'm curious to read through their reactions.
 
Guess my problem is I'm a little insecure. I enjoy something, then visit a board where most of the comments say its a POS, I guess I start to wonder if theres something wrong with me.

When that happens, I always prefer to wonder what's wrong with everybody else.;)
