Tonight (2/20): The last new Late Night with Conan O'Brien

Well, this is it, my bitches. That white-bread, wave-headed mofo is doing his last new show tonight (technically it'll be 2/21, but you know what I mean). No more Masturbating Bear, no more Pimpbot 5000, and so on. Gots to go down the straight and narrow in Leno's (soon to be) old timeslot.

I'm not holding out a lot of hope for the NEW Late Night host (the frequently unfunny Jimmy Fallon) who starts in March, but we shall see what we shall see. Conan takes the Leno timeslot in June and I believe Leno settles into his primetime weeknight show at the same time.

It would be cool if Andy Richter made an appearance tonight, though. :techman:

I'm looking forward to this, but I have to ask if it was an accident that this was posted in Sci-Fi/Fantasy?

*sniff*
It's the end of an era. It was pretty funny watching him in the early days, finding his way and such. He did a pretty nice job following Letterman. I'm not exactly sure how long Fallon will last.

I just saw a preview, Andy's coming back! and some thought he wouldn't. Also saw Fallon's set, apart from that model in the video blogs.

He set Abe Vigoda free so I guess he won't be on the new show. I don't know if a tame Conan will be fun, I guess it will be OK but I doubt it will be the same. And Jimmy Fallon isn't exactly filling me with confidence about who will be filling his shoes.

Damn it. I missed it. Didn't realize it was tonight until I saw this thread after it was over. Do you think NBC will a) re-air it or b) upload it on NBC.com?

edit: Nevermind. It looks like they upload episodes.

I don't think Conan will be that tame on the Tonight Show. Leno makes many sexually themed or other more crass jokes or skits, so I bet Conan will not be tamer then that. And Conan's audience will move on with him. Internationally at least, he will still be king alongside with Jon Stewart and The Daily Show.

I like Leno as a comedian, and as a car buff, but I never connected to him on the Tonight Show. I never liked Conan, period, so this will just make me that much less likely to refrain from changing the channel.

Too bad the idiots at NBC didn't do the smart thing and make Leno the host of the American Top Gear - then maybe they wouldn't have felt the need to cancel it before it even aired (Adam Carolla? Saw that cancellation as soon as he was announced!)

Leno is an asshole. Conan is great. Ferguson is hilarious and Dave is the king. That being said, I have zero time to keep up with late night tv.

Maybe tame wasn't the right word, "toned down" maybe? I think like Dave we will see less goofing around and a little more straight-laced manner with the guests. We'll see but I think there will be pressure to keep The Tonight Show on top and that he will be more reined in at 11:30.
