"316"

"The way back to the island is revealed to members of the Oceanic 6, but there's trouble ahead when not all of them wish to return."

This episode and "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" were written at the same time by executive producers Lindelof and Cuse. "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" was originally meant to be aired first, but the order was switched because Lindelof thought it would be "cool". - Wikipedia

I haven't read spoilers on this, and don't know why the episode is titled "316", but here's a thought: Lostpedia says that the number of passengers on Flight 815 was 324. 8 of the original passengers have now left the Island: Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun, Locke, Michael, and Walt. 324-8=316.

Alternately, I believe the Oceanic 6's cover story was that only 8 of them survived the initial crash (though not all of them supposedly survived until their rescue). Again, 324-8=316.

It's also less than 360, so it could be a compass bearing for the return.

IIRC, Ben told Micheal to head out on a bearing of 3xx degrees (ok, don't remember the entire number), and we've also see how critical the heading is when going to and from the island.

...but the number of onboard souls is a good guess also. :)

I might be having to ask you guys what happened all night tonight. They're going to be doing thunderstorm/tornado warnings all night.

Look at pg 316 in the Chronicles of Narnia

I did a book report in 7th grade and somehow lost the tablets. Is it something you can put in spoiler tag?

If you remember the opening scene of Prince Caspian (thanks to Flukie for pointing that out for me) :)
