Remembrance of the Daleks

Well thanks to this thread, bought the DVD off ebay which arrived this morning!

Ace is one of my fav assistants although grew up with Jo Grant and Sarah-Jane Smith.

However, I feel that Bonnie Langford was short-sticked, in that I have heard her complain that they wrote the role of Mel for her, rather than writing a character she could act with.

you mean the continuity announcer saying "Saturday night's entertainmen continues with the science-fiction series 'Doc...'" or similar?

what did he say?

Was it Sly being magnificent or was it scripted?

My version of this show is cut into a single movie length episode.

I'm missing out on the goodness.

The Professor lady, Rachel, goodness, she was a hunk of middle aged yumminess.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I taking another peek after rewatching Remembrance last night, and I see this question never got answered.

what did he say?

At the end of part 3, when the Dalek ship is landing in the schoolyard and the Doctor and friends are huddling in the schoolroom, the Doctor sticks his head up from the group, looks into the camera and says something along the lines of, "I may have miscalculated," or words to that effect, before ducking back into the group.

Oh, that's nothing new. In The Daleks' Masterplan, episode 7 IIRC, was called "The Feast of Steven," involved the Doctor, Sarah Kingdom and Steven Taylor doing a little running around in a couple of timezones, and they end up having a small Christmas celebration. At one point the Doctor raises his glass of mulled cider, looks at the camera and says quite clearly, "and a happy Christmas to you all."

Another occasion I remember was the end of The Invasion of Time. Leela and K9 stay behind on Gallifrey while the Doctor leaves, alone. Leela asks K9 "Will he be lonely?". Next shot is the Doctor lugging a crate marked K9 - Mark II into the control room. He looks into the camera and chuckles naughtily.

I always thought that was one of the charming aspects of DW - that We the Audience were the Doctor's unseen companions. And you know, what the hell? It's a TV show. Get over it.

And of course the time the 4th Doctor looks up at the camera and says something like "Even the sonic screwdriver won't get me out of this one."

You expect that sort of thing from Tom Baker. :)
