In the Pilot..I like Jack...later, not so much.
Sawyer starts off a jerk, later, I like him a lot.
Shannon and Kate...never liked at all.
Locke, starts off great, now I'm kind of so-so with him.

Good ol' Sayid I don't think has ever done me wrong. Oh, and poor Hurley's OK too.

Help me, has sayid ever done anything bad or wrong?

In an early S1 episode Sayid tortured Sawyer for not telling them where Shannon's asthma medication was and he was so ashamed he exiled himself from the group for a little. There's also the whole bit about him torturing and killing people for Saddam ;) But I love Sayid, he's one of my favorite characters. I think he should be the leader of the group as he's got military experience and he's the most cool-headed and competent leader they have. Jack is just insane. Jackface!

I want to add Libby as well, she never did wrong on the island.

If I had to pick someone to be leader, I would choose Sayid, IMO Jack is a good doctor, but not the best leader, he gets too involved and emotionally attached and is way to eccentric, plus he was ready to leave everyone behind and take Ben's offer to get off the island with Juliet, I never liked him as much after that.

Libby's one of my big disappointments in the show. I was really interested in her past with Hurley and Desmond, and then she was gone.

For me it's a close bet between Locke and Sayid. They're both clearly flawed and damaged people, but damn, they're both awesome all the time.

Still, when things started out, Jack made the most sense. Surely it would be easier to trust the guy who just saved everyone's lives over a member of the Republican Guard.

Yeah, you are right, at first Jack was fine, but then things changed, IMO Jack lost his way.

I liked Jack a lot in the first season, but after Boone died, I started hating him.

Kate, on the other hand, I've disliked from day one.

And, despite his soldier-fu skills, getting himself kidnapped on more than one occasion.

Is that a flash-forward murder? I don't remember him murdering anyone on the island.

He has done plenty of flash-forward murders.

  18. Jin? Aside from a little bit of "cover up WOMAN!!!" overprotectiveness and hostility to michael in S1, he's been pretty decent all the way through.

Sayid is clearly the best "leader". He's a guy who can look at a guy and tell he's lying.
