Valentine's Day: Yay or Nay, Hooray?

Just a note for the ladies:

I cook, I clean, I do laundry, I balance the budget, I hold intelligent conversations, I'm a romantic at heart, I'm deeply passionate and always willing to add a moment of excitement to my life, and I tend to listen very well.

Awwwhh... :( Well I am basically the same and have yet to find anyone either. I don't know what to tell you... because if I did I would help myself too.

As for Valentines, I don't give a crap one way or the other. I have always been completely indifferent to it, even when I was in a relationship. But I don't really get into holidays all that much, unless it is Christmas or Halloween. But last year, a group of us decided to redo February 14 as something we would like to celebrate. So in an effort to be inclusive of the partnered and unpartnered, we rechristened it "Science Fiction Day" and it was great fun! So tomorrow I will be watching "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Plan 9 From Outer Space" then rereading "Stranger in a Strange Land". I may even watch a couple of episodes of the seventh season of "Bewitched" and a little TNG. (I had planned to watch the old "Flash Gordon" serials but I didn't get them in time.) I am so into this that I think we should start a movement... with parades and parties!

So... Happy Science Fiction Day everyone!

I would usually treat this day with indifference, and I do try, but recent events have changed this somewhat and I'm somewhat more open and optimistic, less cynical. I shan't bore you with the details...

This Valentine's Day will be interesting because I'm going to a wedding reception. I'm still single, hate it, and going to a reception celebrating a newly formed couple. I just realized that this week. Not sure how I feel about it, but hopefully a good time will be had by all.

A wedding reception on St. Valentine's Day. Lots of single people there, no doubt. I envy you, I really do. :D
Happy Valentines Day Zion :adore:
[blushes x 143] Happy St. Valentine's Day to you too, K'ehleyr. :)

^:)
Combining threads here but can't be bother to look it up, do we know what the 21 club is yet?!

So it's St. Valentine's Day now. In RPG parlance, I think this means that as a spiritual holy day, we all gain +1 in physical stamina and +10% experience gains for the duration of the day. :bolian:

I say "Hooray." Sure, you should be romantic every day and not just on Valentine's Day, and you should love everybody every day and not just on Christmas, and Punxatawney Phil should get out of the house more often-- but so what? People like special occasions. Get out there and have a special dinner, make out in public and break out the fishnets when you get home. Live it up, kids. You only get one life. :bolian:

...

We can try this: If a woman hits on you, refer her to me. If a man hits on me, I'll refer him to you. It could be like an exchange program. :D

Wow. Irony is just really kicking you in the balls with that one, isn't it?

Why haven't you been snapped up already?

I don't get out much, really. I'm always so busy taking care of my family that getting out and being social is not much of an option. That, and I figure a lot of women figure I'm too good to be true. I don't mean it as a bragging point, just that I think some women believe the TV when it shows men as selfish, luggable idiots who are only into sports and beer.

Fishnets?! I feel like I'm stuck in a Time Warp or something... ;) ;) ;)

"Let's do the TW again". :guffaw:. Yep I can just imagine my mans face if I came out, corset et al. Then again if he did it :guffaw::guffaw:, would cost too much in port to pursuade him! Oh but the photos would be precious:evil:

It's probably not just things women have seen on screen but previous experiences. It takes a long time to find someone and even then it is not always wonderful. Valentines Day is also a pressure for couples, that you are suppose to be having a great time, other problems aside. You have family at least and as good or as bad as they may seem, you're not alone. Whether you'd prefer to be or not:)

I'm afraid I couldn't imagine anything at that point, as I will have fainted. In a good way.
Well thank you Baba :guffaw:.

Don't guffaw! I would not joke about something as monumentally important as K'Ehleyr in fishn....

*faints*

...ets.

Valentine's greetings are sent to you too:luvlove:

Awww. *blush* Thank you, you made my day. :)

BTW in heels I do have incredible legs;) sleep well

Sleep? SLEEP? Are you *trying* to make me drown in my own drool? ;)
