Ezri/Jake

I know this 'ship' turned up in fanfic, but was this ever something that was considered onscreen...?

Considering it might have been cute, I think the elder Sisko already halted that relationship when he decided that Dax was too old for Jake...(and also there was Julian Bashir's infatuation with Dax, as well as Worf)...

Oh, and let's not forget Quark who had a small infatuation with Dax as well...

I was surprised a week or so ago to learn that Ezri's only about a year older than Jake. Perhaps the suggestion of such a relationship isn't so far fetched as it seems.

I mean, I don't think that a simple comment is indication that a Ezri/Jake 'ship was considered.

Not that I would have necessarily been opposed to it, mind you. I just don't think it was given any real consideration.

I think they should have made more of the Jake/Nog 'ship. There were definite reasons why they stopped living togther and we should have had the real scoop!!

I think I would have enjoyed watching Ezri/Jake a lot more than Ezri/Julian. It was less wtf than the other two Trek ships I can't stand (C/7 and Worf/Troi), but their arc was one of my least favorite parts of the end of DS9.

DS9 was all about the 'drama'....so it would have been a challenge for the writers to cook up something that involved Jake, Ezri, Julian, and Mr. Wolf...er, Worf...

I did notice that Jake took a shine to Erzi in the first few episodes of her arrival and it sort of tailed off into sort of a sibling type friendship. I think it would have been one of the more interesting relationships to explore on the series, that's for sure.

Man, you're cruel. With that reasoning Dax can't date anyone anymore. Agewise it would have made no difference if she dated either Sisko anymore.

It's incredibly obvious that Jake is SERIOUSLY into her in 7.2 when he mistakes "Gosh, You're tall" for a compliment rather than a statement of fact, over a rakitjino in the Defiant.

I thought that this was going to be excellent.

No. They interact some in Shadows and Symbols but most it's directed about what's happening with Sisko. There's a single line at the end of Afterimage in which Jake states that she cute. Sisko immediately points out that shes about three hundred years to old.

After that they don't interact in any other episode.

I remember hearing rumours of such a pairing before Season 7 started, probably because it was known that the Ezri character would be fairly young (not counting the symbiont's age, of course) -- and the fact that she had a decent amount of screen-time with Jake in the first few episodes wasn't exactly a well-kept secret, I imagine. But Sisko's "She's 300 years too old for you" line seemed to put the kibosh on that potential relationship. If Jake was interested, he probably just decided not to pursue anything since it would likely weird out his dad too much.

Pity -- it could have been interesting, even if they only went on a few dates before deciding not to go any further. As people have stated, it could have added some unique complications and new dimensions to the relationships between Ben, his son, and Dax -- and it would have at least given Jake something to do in Season 7, instead of basically just being wallpaper most of the time.

This thread reminds me that I haven't seen Ezri II in a while. Normally she would jump on an Ezri relationship thread. Where's she got to?

Well, I think the 'problem' was largely due to her rank.

Being a lieutenant probably makes her SEEM much older than Jake.
