February Art Challenge - Starscape

Okay, drawing people and figures is not something I'm very comfortable with so in order to stand any chance in the contest this month I decided to pull out all the stops...

The results, so far, were achieved by using Paint Shop Pro to trace over a mix of both reference photos and pencil sketches. I even tried some shading to add some depth.

So, to borrow a tag line allow me to (re-)introduce you to The strangest teen of all, Charlie-X:

Background: After the events of the TOS episode "Charlie X", Charlie has learnt the error of his ways and escaping the Thasians has sworn to do battle with the forces of evil to atone for his mistakes.

The cool thing about Charlie-X is that he already has a name that works as a superhero . Great idea, Starscape!

Update: I've added a few more elements and started to arrange them as on a comic book cover:

My original plan was to have the Thasian suspended over Charlie's hand and I was going to model him on the Thasian seen in the TOS episode until Praetor asked his question:

Where's Charles Xavier?

Here's an idea, maybe after the TOS comic we should do an adventure of Charlie X, eh? Maybe a crossover issue featuring B.J.'s ¡El Sombrero! ...

Man, it's going to be tough this month to decide who to vote for.
