Voyager: Full Circle extract in Star Trek Magazine 16

Is there a specific "street date" for the magazine or do I have to rely on the speed of my local Borders personnel stocking the shelves?

Tomorrow :) (er, since it's 10 a.m. here in the UK, that could be confusing I guess - 10th Feb)
Thanks! I know where I'm headed Tuesday. :techman:

(It's 2 a.m. for me here in California. Cats and insomnia are why I'm still awake and posting here!)

Someone had a copy at a con this weekend in Bournemouth, so it looks like a few copies have made their way over a bit early, either that or they brought it from the States!

Probably won't quite have made it over the Channel yet though... I'll have a look tomorrow!

At the moment, it's not a problem if they're out early - anyone who does see one over here, please post, or PM me: I am monitoring this closely!

And I just found out Robert Picardo's been added to the guest list for Shore Leave.

Paul, I'm getting a ton of copies for Shore Leave. How often can someone get the magazine interview autographed by the person interviewed AND the person who conducted the interview?

*cue Ferengi mode*

That has to be a Rule of Acquisition!

Just saw the cover in the TrekBBS articles - Seven and the Doctor of course. Didn't Voyager have a captain? Janeway?

For what it's worth, I count 45 images of Janeway within the magazine itself, although that includes ads and images of book covers.

It's not the number of images. I didn't realize that "Voyager-focused" wasn't an all or nothing deal. It didn't occur to me there could be more than one magazine within a ten-year period that would be devoted to Voyager. ;)

Why not? There are a lot of Voyager fans out there, and the magazine editors would naturally want to take advantage of that. Why oh why do you insist on diminishing VOY fandom!!!1! :scream::scream::scream::scream::scream:

On the contrary I believe there are more Voyager fans out there than people realize. At least, more than the folks at Pocket seem to believe. I'm afraid I assumed that same attitude was prevalent among those at Star Trek Magazine which was MY mistake.

Do you have a map of the UK/World where they are being spotted?

kimc, if Pocket truly didn't believe in "Voyager", do you think they'd have bothered with Relaunch novels at all?

The Christie Golden novels sold very well, we're told - multiple reprints! - and Pocket recently did a highly recommended omnibus of short stories. Even though the TV series books (and DS9) were among Pocket's consistently lowest sellers, VOY was always included in most book crossovers, even though the ship was often way off in the Delta Quadrant ("Day of Honor", "Invasion!", "The Captain's Table", "The Brave and the Bold", "Section 31", YA "Starfleet Academy"...)

By the way, I remembered the other day: I was the designer of the first Playmates NewForce Exclusive action figure: "Captain Kathryn Janeway as seen in 'Flashback'." The brief was to design a figure that would sell well, be canonical, and be based only on existing sculpts, in this case Janeway's head on Saavik's body, painted in Rand's ST VI movie uniform colours.

Paul - I don't know if you care or not but you have a mistake on page 10 of the U.S. edition in the Pocket Books schedule. You list Seven Deadly Sins has moved to March 2009. Is that not supposed to read March 2010? Funny because they have Myriad Universes and COE as 2010. Or am I mistaken here?

Nope, we were working on this in December 08, so 09 felt right - of course it should be 10. There's a much better Pocket-related error later in the issue though that no-one's noticed yet...

Bought the magazine yesterday.

I just have to say that any Voyager fan who refuses to buy it because of who's on the cover or some perceived favoritism to Seven and the Doctor is really missing out. It's a terrific collection of articles, including one very pro-Janeway analysis of her leadership style.

To all involved--great job. :)
