I do tend to dress a bit... eccentrically... though, it's true. And I specified this suit with a few little deliberate anachronisms in its design which make it look "out of its own time". :D

Just make sure you look after that fob watch... and if you ever feel the urge to open it..... :D

You know what's really disturbing? I have way more grey beard hairs than I thought I would. Does beard hair always go grey faster than head hair?

Speaking from 25+ years experience with facial hair, yes, the beard tends to go grey faster than head hair. My mustache and goatee are almost fully grey while my hair color is more of a "salt-n-pepper".
Its the reverse for me. Head hair is almost completely grey, while my beard and mustache are mostly still red.

And just a cool picture of my uncle with some of his art:

For a moment I thought that was a photo of my father, as pictured below;

I'm also in complete agreement on the Doctor Who/professor look in Holdfast's pics. slightly envious... when I wear a suit I look like I've stolen it. which is unfortunate as I wear them often.

This picture was taken a few days ago... I was explaining time travel in Lost to another wrestler. He got bored and took a picture of my annoyance that he wasn't getting it.

Meanwhile I was more annoyed by the BBC getting my name wrong again;

...meaning I had a cheque I couldn't cash and had to delay my spending spree :(

Interesting! I would never have figured there'd be a difference.

As for the beard, Holdfast, you might want to consider keeping it trimmed down to ~1/8" to 1/4" in length. A closer cut beard seems to be more trendy these days and presents a "clean cut" image. I keep my goatee cut very close and it actually looks better that way. YMMV.....

Thanks for the advice.

I'm planning on trimming it and seeing how it looks like that fairly soon, in fact. Maybe over the weekend if I remember.

Have you had a tailor take a look at them to offer some advice? It may be that you're wearing the wrong size, or that there are other little adjustments that could be made that will make a big difference.

Cool hair. My turn to be envious - I can't do anything fun like that with my hair.

I can empathise on this score...

I use my second name rather than my first on a day-to-day basis... and on my bank account. But occasionally I get cheques generated by organisations who have my full name on record. So I can't cash those since the bank bounces them. I've actually opened a second bank account under my full name so I can pay them in without waiting for a recut cheque and then when the cheque clears I transfer the sum into my main account. I use the second account for other stuff too, now, but that was the original reason for opening it.

I like the middle pic.

We had interesting clouds today too. At one point there was a big cloud over the twin spires of All Souls and then a gap in the clouds opened up right at the point between the two spires. Pretty cool. Wish I'd had a camera for that.

I did however have a camera at home to take pics of my new suit!!

Plus a glimpse of the Holdfast winter beard project... :D

This suit is a thing of beauty. I'm hopeless for three piece suits! The beard isn't too bad either, and that's coming from some one who generally hates facial hair, so that's really saying something. Overall, you do look a bit Freudian, though. ;)

Here are my new plum dress, stockings, and beret, I'm afraid their not as stunning as your suit, but hey, I got the dress on sale for $80!:

Oh my... Holdy is HOT! Dude, the suit rocks but you look amazing with the beard. I actually caught myself looking twice. And if I may be so bold... yummy. :bolian:

Oh and hi AdAstra! Excellent to see you out and about on the BBS.

That might actually make all the difference. My measurements are quite odd from that point of view... and I've never been to a tailer before for some reason.

As for the hair - thanks :) Though thats without anything in it. As soon as I try to style it, it all goes wrong. Especially as I'm growing it long again as it's starting to get into the awkward stage. Though right now it seems to match my work.

I always have problems with my name. But mine is more having a stage name, a real name, a mix of both for professional use... and then all of my money is handled by someone else.

My old BBC account was easier to deal with as the money went in my wifes account regardless of the name they used... whereas now I have to put it into my stage account which doesn't feature the name James. And definatly doesn't feature the name Taylor

thestrangequark - thats a lovely colour on you :)

That dress is so you! Honestly, the whole getup is perfect. Not many people can pull it off, but you do it with style. :bolian:

You're not the only person to say that to me today. I'm taking that as a huge compliment both times! ;)

I've already complimented them in the purchases thread, but since they're just as lovely here, you get a second round of compliments. :D

 I take my yummys where I can get them these days!

Thanks!

It's worth getting a second opinion on them at the least. If you have pics for posting here, I'm used enough to checking suit fits to give a quick & dirty critique, but you're much better off seeing a proper tailor who can see them in the flesh.

Ah, a recipe for confusion. Especially when dealing with the BBC. :D

I realized I hadn't taken one since I got my new job (and the thread was on the third page for me) so here's a shot with my mediocre webcam from tonight after I got home from a long day at the new job.

You look hot in red. I wonder how the clothes would look in a pile on the floor?

You're welcome, T'Bonz. :P

All you need is one of These sets and you can claim the holmes look. ;)

I LOVE the beard, and the suit makes me insanely jealous with bearded rage! :D

A pile on the floor?!

:wtf:

Hell no, I just got done ironing.
So you're not wearing clothes now? Woo hoo!

I like your use of hats. So many women just plonk one on without actually trying to make it part of the ensemble. My ex was notorious at that. Probably why it bothers me...

Anyway in two words: Good job!

I'll go retro with a little before and after from 2 years ago:

I think I made a pretty good anime likeness:

I'll post some more recent stuff as soon as I get some decent shots.

Last time I grew mine, it had copper-coloured hairs in it. So while not grey, I can empathise!

"And i, for one, welcome our new American overlords."

In your dreams! The delegation was led by a Belgian woman and she sure knew how to boss the Americans around. ;)

We're experiencing some ridiculously unseasonable weather here in eastern Iowa for the middle of February (yesterday was about 60 degrees outside, the day before that was 50, today it's in the mid-40s and rainy), and I'm ... stuck at my desk.

This is why I punch koalas and yell at people in MA.
