The Blackberry Bold is the best phone I've ever owned

Forgive my ignorance, but you have to get an upgraded plan with the Blackberry, don't you? My wife and I have ATT, and Motorola v551 phones that we just use to make phone calls, take a pic or two, and play an occasional game of Jewelquest. I can access the net, but it costs extra. We pay about $70 per month. I wouldn't mind upgrading, but I don't want to pay any more than what we already are...

I think any carrier is going to charge an extra data plan for their smart phones.

I don't know about the others, but AT&T is $30 a month (for blackberries and iPhones).

Keep in mind that is just for the unlimited data - not for the rest of the plan. I have the lowest minutes/cheapest plan for my iphone and it is like 60 bucks a month.

Same here, I pay $60 a month, includes the phone plan $30 and the data plan $30, well I also have the $5 SMS and MMS 200 message plan, so actually $65 a month for me, it comes out to $70 when its all said and done with taxes and stuff

That's what I have too. I misinterpreted the thread and assumed the guys from the US and were paying flat out $30/month for their entire plan. I pay $60-something for the regular plan, then $30 for the data.

My last employer provided a blackberry, and when I left there last fall it was like going back to 1992. I don't know how I lived before being able to check my email anywhere.

The data package is pretty much wasted money in my case. I have wireless internet both at home and work, and am at either place most of the time. Call it a luxury convenience, I guess.

I'd hate using an iPhone, since, as I said, I want a phone I can tether to my laptop...and the iPhone can't.

Given that the iPhone doesn't have a feature that I would consider essential for my needs, I suspect my definition of "crappy" may differ from yours.

Um, well after using a fully touchscreen phone for about 6 months now, I've decided I don't like it and am going back to a physical QWERTY phone, which is why I just bought a Blackjack 2. That, plus my deep disgust for anything Apple would keep me from agreeing with you.

I want the Bold but with my employee plan on AT&T, I have to buy the phone as full retail price. I do however get 2000 mins, and unlimited text and web for $20 a month
