So what is the premise for this series supposed to be anyway?

If this is true then I'll pass, thanks.

Anyone know what this show will actually be about? It'll be interesting to see where this spin-off branches out to; JAG was navy lawyers, NCIS is navy crimebusters, so what will the new one be?

    Navy cooks? :)

To continue the trend of working professionals, it should be about the National Naval Medical Center.

But early rumors said that it was going another crimebuster show.

    Wait....what? :vulcan:

I love LL Cool J and all but that's just kind of weird. And as far as I'm concerned, Chris O'Donnell screwed up his career long ago.

I'll stick with the original; Mark Harmon and crew. :bolian:

TVGuide adds a bit about the characters

Apparently O'Donnell will be playing a chameleon like investigator who can infiltrate any situation and LL Cool J will be a former Navy SEAL. This will also be a crime show and these are apparently the two characters Director Vance mentioned on last Tuesday's episode.

Was Vance even in last week's episode? I don't remember him at all.

Some of those comments on that page are laughable. Someone can't see O'Donnell as a chameleon based solely on his/her own typecasting tunnel vision!

    Gibbs gonna knock you out!
Batman & Robin said knock you out!

O'Donnell's not really the first person I think of, but like that commenter, it might just be my personal typecasting of the guy. If the characters are even half as well-written as the characters on the parent show, then I'll be happy.

I like LL Cool J, and it'd be interesting to see what an ex-SEAL would bring to a criminal investigation team.

A Navy SEAL with hand-to-hand combat skills? Get outta here! :p

    ^ Yep. Who'da thunk it?

Ok I just read online that O'Donnell's character is named Callen and LL is playing Sam Hallen.

I am not into NCIS, but I'll definitely watch this. I've always liked Chris O'Donnell, but I wonder why his career tanked like it did. He is a capable actor given a good script.

What's funny to me is that a lot of these comments are similar to ones back when NCIS first premiered. Many people didn't see the JAG spinoff working.

Maybe they'll be a west coast NCIS team.

My guess is San Diego, since it's the largest Naval Base on the West Coast. Plus it's easier to make LA look like San Diego than, say, Seattle.

This story gave me the same reaction as to when I saw Chris O'Donnell in Max Payne: "Oh man, Chris O'Donnell? Good for him, he's still able to find work after all these years!"
