Carrie Fisher is a hoot!

Or at least she was on last week's installment of Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me, which is a VERY funny news quiz show on National Public Radio (U.S.) You can listen to it here: http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=35

Fisher's segment is a game called "Not My Job" (scroll down about halfway through the list of segments) in which famous people answer questions about something that...well, isn't their job. In this case, Fisher answered questions about Star Wars -- not the movie but the Star Wars missile defense system. It's fabulous.

Leonard Nimoy was a guest a few months ago -- I posted that on one of the Star Trek forums. But if you missed it and are interested, you can probably still find it in the site's archives. For sure you can find the photo of Nimoy teaching Carl Kasell (long-time NPR news caster, a very dignified guy who is apparently also a really good sport) the Vulcan salute. It's on the site's front page (look down in the lower right corner), http://www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/

Listened to the podcast a day or so ago. She was very funny. She tells a story about Mark Hamill being a pest on the set that was amusing. Nimoy, a few months back, was also good, as you said.

Both are available in (free) podcast form from iTunes.

I heard on the radio last Sunday. Really funny. Mark Hamill is such a dork... I'm surprised he doesn't post here.

I love "Wait, wait..." and whenever they have a scifi guest host it's fantastic. I loved Peter's jokes re: Trekdom (since he is a Trek fan). Fisher's interview was great and the Alec story had me laughing.

^

I was like 20 pounds of what?? cake?? candy.. And then realized he was British Ha ha ha

That cracked me up and so did the part about the metal bikini thing and the iconically awful hairstyle.

Carrie has a scene or two as herself in the new movie "Fanboys" about a group of geeks breaking into Skywalker Ranch to be the first to view Star Wars: Episode I (yes, it's a period piece ;)). I think I heard Shatner and several others make appearances in it as well.

I've heard about "Wait, Wait..." from several people and have just subscribed to the podcast through iTunes. Another NPR show I used to enjoy listening to was "Says You!" Do you know if that's available by the same means?
