GOP Elects African-American as RNC Chairman

and I voted for him based on his character and ideals. Not his color.

I suppose that's possible since CNN, NBC et al didn't really delve into that side of the man.

I think you've been watching too much FOX.

All the new stations and media outlets I keep watch on
provide all the information not just what's piped to them
from the former Bush administration and his cronies.

There's a difference between "calling for" and actually doing something about punishing these employers who are breaking the law.

Well the 2005 House "Sensenbrenner Bill" "Increases penalties for employing undocumented workers to $7,500 for first time offenses, $15,000 for second offenses, and $40,000 for all subsequent offenses" (Wikipedia).

One of the few things I agreed with Bush on was a need for a guest workers program. Such a program is consistent with the right-sizing approach to immigration. As I recall, many in his own party were cool to that idea, as were some Democrats.

Well an argument for illegal immigration is that it allows the cheap labor and low prices; if employers are just interested in gaining the most profit (which they would seem to be, as some have been willing to break the law), then a guest worker program wouldn't have much of an impact as they would continue to choose illegal immigrants who would work for even less pay; it would just be a risk-free way to pay less than what native workers would want.

Well that's just silly. I've posted links before from the PEW research center (and others) showing that FOX gave the most balanced coverage. And would you really vote for a person that went every week for 20 years to Klan meetings? Is that the kind of character you'd vote for?

I wish this new chairman well. The American people need someone to reinvigorate the Republican party so we can have a choice that will fix the disastrous direction this country is now going before it's too late.

And I proved that it wasn't true. Here's the post agian in case you "missed" it.

I don't think you know what the word platitude means but to answer your challenge here are some surveys and articles:

http://www.iies.su.se/~ekaplan/foxnews.pdf

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=media-bias-presidential-election

This here is just an interesting article about bias in the media in general and how all US media is right of center when looked at in the Global perspective: http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/blog/media-bias.pdf

This article shows that FOX is the worst of the cable channels but that the others aren't all that great: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A32631-2005Mar13?language=printer

And this doesn't even take into account the unprosfessional attitudes constantly on display at FOX News.

Thanks, I did miss it. But other than years old articles and hit pieces I don't see anything comparing the coverage over the past year. It funny how many times O'Reilly is mentioned. Apparently they don't know the difference between news reporting and opinion shows.

Sorry, but FOX News is not fair and balanced. It's a ridiculous sentiment. The hatred that spews from that channel along with the unprofessional attitudes is disgusting. Even Rupert Murdock had admitted that it has a bias. I don't know why you guys cling to saying that FOX News is fair. It's not fair. It's a shit channel with shit reporters all of whom tried to push the Obama is a Muslim nonsense.

I smell fear.

Republicans eat fear and sow it for future feedings. FoxNews is just another one of your outlets for doing so.

I think its incredibly insulting to the man, and his supporters to just suggest in a kneejerk reaction that he only got his position and votes because he was black.

(in case you're wondering whether i'm talking about Steele or Obama, yes)

You must be smelling your quivering upper lip, then! :guffaw:-- RR
