Scents -for men.

Soap is always a good way to go. Like, actual soap, used daily. Not some nasty perfumy cheap-ass body wash. Soap. As in "clean person" smell.

Axe everything should be banned for the good of everyone. It smells horrible. I mean, it's really, really bad. Part of that is that people who use it use like 4 different forms of it, they bathe in in, wash their hair with it, over-style their hair with it, spray it all over themselves. It doesn't even smell good in moderation.

I only use the occasional body wash, and I use the deodorant because for me it works better than every other deodorant I've tried (I don't bother with the so called girl attracting claims). With the body wash, I only use Kilo. I do my best to make myself as lightly scented as possible, not just for you, but for me too. I've never understood the "douse yourself until you catch fire" method so many men my age use.

J.

We use Olay here at home. No scented crap.

We just did a perfume/scent thread within the last couple of weeks but I guess it was fairly girl-centric in terms of replies.

I must've totally missed that, don't remember even seeing it.

This thread was actually just because I didn't know about this New Old Spice.
And because of curiosity of course…

Curiosity killed the cat.

Allergic reaction to all the perfume it smelled on opening this thread.

Body spray is for people too lazy to use deodorant.

Well I do use deodorant. And I use body spray. It's kind of like cologne
except for instead of just adding a scent the body spray actually kills
odor causing bacteria so the fresh smell lasts longer and it's real.

Someone once commented on how nice I smell and asked what I wear, and I said, 'Uh... I use fabric softener?'

Regular bathing, use of soap, fresh clothes: that is the extent of my primping and preening. I don't really like fragrances on others, but subtle ones are ok--ones you can barely smell. But, I mean, it's not like I won't talk to you if you are wearing cologne or perfume. I only won't talk to you if you are wearing flip flops, but that is another story.

I do have a bottle of cologne, English Leather, that must be coming up on 10 years old now. I haven't touched it in years, it was a gift.

Everyone's entitled to use a platitude occasionally. /.../
True, I just didn't expect it from you of all people. Almost made me short out my keyboard with Dry Martini there

That's the kind of perfumes I'm most scared of, the sneaky ones, those that get close contact not only to your nostrils but also to your skin. Maybe our whole civilization is going to die from a bug contracted from an unsanitary telephone, but not before our collective immune systems have been damaged beyond repair by allergens we willingly doused ourselves in!
I only won't talk to you if you are wearing flip flops, but that is another story.
Luckily that fad is long gone and flip-flops have been returned to their proper habitats once again.

Because you were the one person on this board I would expect anything but this particular platitude from I wrote as I did :rommie:

-Are you OK? -been taking your vitamins? -you don't have a fever do you?

Everyone's entitled to use a platitude occasionally. As long as we put them in the dishwasher afterwards.

What if we break a few platitudes along the way?

Well, that's what we have China for: making China!

For years, I've worn both Grey Flannel and Halston Z-14, the latter because my dad wore it. The only new fragrance I've worn in the past few years is Z by Ermenegildo Zegna. I use all three and altnernate them on a weekly basis. Too many of the new fragrances are too fruity-smelling. -- RR

I use campsuds soap, old spice deodorant and barbasol shaving cream. No scents for me other than the ones I pick up from normal grooming and my environment.

^Never heard of it, but I'm intrigued.

I've never actually bought cologne before, but that might be worth trying out.

I haven't considered acquiring anything of the sort since CK1, but I too am intrigued, might be cool to have the bottle(s) standing on my IKEA (read: Enterprise) shelves in the bathroom…

Man, I've never felt this trekkie-geekish before :rommie:
