Basicly just that Widmore had been funding the project Faraday and his mom were working on. And that an accident caused mom to become crazy. However, I'll bet my left foot that some time displacement accident caused her mind to be traveling through time but her body is stuck here. That's why she was talking to her dead husband or whoever it was and the like.
