Janeway Died? In Which Book?

Status
Not open for further replies.
^^
Anyway, I'm through with the "relaunch" books. I won't read a single one published after "Before Dishonor" even if someone did pay me to do that.

Have you finished?

Now could you kindly pick up your toys which you have just thrown out of your pram and grow the frak up!

Yes Janeway is dead.

Yes you don't like it.

Yes we know that.

BUT.

No she is not coming back.

No the writers at Pocket will not bring her back because some obsessive fan wants them too.

Live with it.

People Die.

They don't come back in reality and I prefer my fiction to be the same.

That was rude and unnecessary.

And if you like that kind of entertainment, then I would suggest watching the news or read some WWII-related biography. Lot's of your favorite scenario there.

^^
Well, I have the opposite opinion about the things mentioned in the spoiler.

Fair enough.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I think you're denying yourself some excellent works of art. Having said that, you should probably apologize to the authors and editors for attributing malicious intent to them.

Well, I admit that some of my statements, which have been written in anger, have been a bit over the top which wasn't my intention.

On the other hand, this might have been the final blow for my interest in Star Trek. It used to be fun once but stupid politics from people in charge has ruined it over and over again.

There used to be a time when there were episodes and books to look forward to. All this has been taken away. The series are gone (and no, I have no expectations at all for that recycling movie which is coming up, I see it just as a result of lack of ideas) and with the current scenario in the books, there's no reason to buy and read them either.

So you can't expect that I will be grateful and thank them for what I regard as another slap in the face.

However, if Janeway is permanently brought back to life in some upcoming book and if the scenario in the relaunch takes a turn which I can appreciate, then I will express my gratitude in a lenghty message on this forum.

well, in the mean time, can you please leave and shut the door on your way out. you keep saying you don't like the books and won't read them so go on, leave.

Maybe it was rude, to be honest I wouldn't exactly agree with you on that remark. As for being unnecessary? Nope, I feel my "outburst" was absolutely necessary.

You have come in here, insulted the men and women who are both fans of Trek AND make a living for it, you've threatened to leave the Trek fold and you're obsession over the FICTIONAL characters in a FICTIONAL WORLD is worrying at best and down right disturbing at worst. Enough is enough!

You give Trek fans and fandom in general a bad name, I know fan is a shortening of fanatical and you've taken it to the extreme which is unhealthy and points towards underlying issues which I don't even care to hazard a guess at.

As someone once said; Do or do not; there is no try.

So either leave and be done with Trek or try and accept whats occured (for better or worse) and enjoy the journey.

As for the News, I know Fox News pretty much passes for entertainment as does ITN over here. The News though is meant to be a factual programme informing the general public of what is occuring and I watch and read Star Trek because for me, because it shows a better, brighter future, one that I hope one day we might even achive in reality.

But, people die, 99.9% of the time it is meaningless and pointless and to those left behind unjust, life goes on though and it's how we deal with these events whether in reality or a fictional character in a book or a Television programme that makes them them.

You've engaged in ad hominem attacks and out and out lied about what people have said. That's far beyond over-the-top.

On the other hand, this might have been the final blow for my interest in Star Trek. It used to be fun once but stupid politics from people in charge has ruined it over and over again.

No. Don't you go doing that again. Blaming "the people in charge?"

You are the person who set the political tone in this thread by constantly accusing the authors and editors of malicious intent in their creative choice. You as the person who determined what kind of politics would prevail in this thread -- personal attacks. Don't blame the authors for your choice.

There used to be a time when there were episodes and books to look forward to. All this has been taken away. The series are gone (and no, I have no expectations at all for that recycling movie which is coming up, I see it just as a result of lack of ideas) and with the current scenario in the books, there's no reason to buy and read them either.

Which is fair enough, but has nothing to do with the point that I've been making in this thread: That you owe the authors and editors an apology for falsely attributing malicious intent to them solely because of a creative decision you disagree with.

So you can't expect that I will be grateful and thank them for what I regard as another slap in the face.

I never said that. You have a remarkable capacity for falsely attributing statements to people. The full extent of what I've said is that you have falsely attributed malicious intent to the authors and editors because of a creative decision you disagreed with and ought therefore to apologize.

Amen dude:techman:! Lynx keeps saying the same thing over and over and over and over:rolleyes:. We get it. Your days as a Trek fan are done. Ours aren't. I can't wait to read how Ms. Beyer has the Voyager crew deal with this massive loss. Janeway has been the cornerstone of their world for the better part of a decade. I'm also just happy that the Voy-R is starting up again. It's about time. But 2 books in 2009 does make up for it somewhat;)

Janeway will probably stay dead, having said that and since you've been harping about giving up Trek for around a WEEK now, will you kindly leave already, you've made it quite clear that as long as Janeway is dead you won't like Trek because gasp it makes the characters look mortal and seeing as Pocket shows no plans to change that you should either move on or go through with what you've been harping on about doing for let me repeat this A FRAKKING WEEK. So in conclusion its a shame you don't like novel Trek's new direction but if it bother's you THAT much maybe you should find other intrests and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Now for this

Man that is funny.

Well, I've realized that I've committed blasphemy by criticizing your beloved authors and editors.

I should have realized that certain people here are more fans of them then they are for the Star Trek series and characters.

I can't wait to read how Ms. Beyer has the Voyager crew deal with this massive loss. Janeway has been the cornerstone of their world for the better part of a decade.

What Voyager crew? How many of them are left? Chakotay and Kim? Oh, it will be interesting to see how Doctor X, Lieutenant Y and ensign Jimmy reacts on Janeway's death!

"Voyager relaunch"! What a joke! It should be called Star Trek Death Row or Fraud Relaunch.

As for apologizing, I think that the authors and editors should apologize to me for finally ruining my interests in Star Trek and squashing the hopes I had for the Star Trek books by killing off one of the best main characters Star Trek have had. It doesn't matter if they didn't do it on purpose. If I break my neighbor's window by accident, I apologize and pay for the damage.

As for the worshippers who have no other constructive to come up with than personal insult, you can keep your pathetic "Death Row" crap relaunch and be happy when your "gods" kill off one main character after another in their divine "creativeness". Just bow and say "baaaaahh".

Guys, seriously? I think it's about time we just let this one go. If ever a post proved its own absurdity, it's this one.

Agreed.

If I break my neighbor's window by accident, I apologize and pay for the damage.
And if your neighbors intentionally break their own window, they don't owe you squat.

And speaking as a non-Janeway, non-Voyager fan who has read Kirsten's book... you're only denying yourself by refusing to read it.

Oh for fucks sack, give it a rest will you with your self rightous anger.

The books are written for a vast audience.

Do you understand that?

It is not written for a handful of individuals as that would alienate more people than the story line would be catering for!!!!!

Something which you fail to understand.

Now I'm sure there is fan written fiction out there which will cater for your Janeway fetish so please, please, please make good on your threats. Stop watching and reading Trek and find something else to become obsesive about. Better yet, as one William Shatner once said: Get a Life.

You know the U.S.S. Death Row has a certain ring to it. It could be like the dirty dozen but in space with phasers and green chicks.

Over-react much:rolleyes:. Who says respecting someone and the job they do is equal to god-like worship? Once again, Voyager, like the other relaunch books (DS9, TNG) has some new characters. Chakotay and Kim are onboard, but so is Tom Paris (as 1st officer), and according to Kirsten, Seven will also be on the ship. Neelix makes a cameo, we get some time with B'elanna and Miral as they search for B'elanna's mother, and the Doctor won't be ignored either. Who, other than Janeway, is missing that you are so attached to that you are no longer into Star Trek?

Sounds like it could be a pirate ship!

Do Space Pirates even exist in the Trek universe?
