Guests stars we never got....

Just for fun anyone have any thoughts on '50s or '60s era guest stars they'd like to have seen on TOS?

How about Honor Blackman or Diana Rigg as a female Starship Captain? They're both good and engaging performers and such a role would have been a really positive image for women at the time.

Although they were better known for their film roles both Stephen Boyd and Lee Marvin could have been interesting.

kirk douglass as an overbearing commodore and former kirk mentor.

So Kirk...teaches Kirk? :p

I'm thinking Sean Connery--as a fellow starship captain...or a security chief!

"I am Captain Bond. James Bond."

Richard Chamberlain as a young Kirk-type Captain.

James Coburn as a Romulan who could kick Kirk's stuntman's ass!!

Robert Culp

John Vernon

John Saxon

Stephanie Powers

I always liked Gerrold's wish of Boris Karloff as Mr Lurry.....

have to admit Roddenberry & co did pretty good for the budget they had...

ELVIS PRESLEY.

Late '60s Elvis would have looked perfect in a red shirt - didn't someone do a Photoshop once? And, the idea is not so far-fetched ... his comebacl special was on NBC!

Robert Conrad as a friend of Kirk's who also survived Tarsus iv. Now working with Orians as a drug smuggler, later revealed as Federation agent under cover. Another spy take could have Conrad and the Romulan Commander. She's shown to have been a sympathiser with the Federation and trying to avert a war by getting military information to the Federation. Conrad is her Federation contact and helper across the boarder through the guise of Orian smugglers.

Jack Lord as PIKE...
Andy Williams as a lounge singer on K7
Artie Johnson as a Klingon
and
Paul Lynde as someone's uncle

Interesting you should bring up Conrad. There were quite a number of actors who appeared in roles on both The Wild Wild West and Star Trek during the years they were on the air -- enough that someone took the trouble to make a list of them all. The ones I named above all appeared on Conrad's show but not on Star Trek, though Persoff would appear later in a TNG episode. It occurs to me now that I should also have included Robert Ellenstein (several WWW appearances but none on TOS) for the same reason.

clint eastwood
I thought about this one, too, but by '67 he'd moved onto spaghetti westerns. I doubt Eastwood would have been available.

Just because he is T'Bonz' absolutely all-time favorite, I'll post this again:

A personal favorite of mine was not a big star but instead was the Central Casting version of the old man, Burt Munston. He was seen in many Disney movies of the era and a whole bunch of episodes of Dragnet. I think he would have made a great Mr. Atoz.
