DS9 Avatar Book One

No, I meant because lots of the stories cross over, Like TNG novels will have DS9 story Arcs cross over into them and it's hard to know which ones are required reading and which are not.
The Gateways TNG book is the only crossover book that really has any relevancy to any of the DS9 relaunch books, and merely explains how a big event introduced in the novel comes about and is then resolved. Other than that, the DS9 relaunch is very much standalone.

Well, I just meant that 'officially' they are pre-reqs, though beyond one reference so far, there are none regarding ASiT and LoD that I've read in thus far.., but do the events in ASiT relate to Worlds of DS9: Cardassia? I dunno, as I have only read through Horn and Ivory thus far..

A Stitch in Time is the first book to introduce us to the situation on post-war Cardassia, including the resurgence of the Oralian Way. Relations between Bajor and Cardassia are a recurring theme in the DS9-R books, and Garak does pop up from time to time. It helps to know the kind of thing they're dealing with and how it affects developments elsewhere.

The Lives of Dax also becomes more important as you get deeper into the story, but it would be revealing too much to tell you how.

Again though, as everyone else has already said, you don't absolutely-unquestionably-need to read them, because the books that reference them will will tell you what you need to know when you need to know it. But it does help to get the background, and they're all pretty good books anyway.

You said it dealt with it's resurgence, but I couldn't remember for sure if it wasn't mentioned as being an old religion in an episode or something like that.

No, it was a new idea then, although it was said that it had been around all along, just suppressed. Later books, like the Terok Nor trilogy, have retconned the religion into many other aspects of the backstory.
