Highly doubtful that they'll do anything like trying to sign Kanno up for the movie but we can always hope. Part of the escence of the show would be lost if they didn't try and at least replicate the musical variety in the show.

I'm hoping they'll use "Pushing the Sky" at some point in the film, awesome song and it's already in English.

Ouch! Forgotten already? You were just down ther
I hear ya. One of my pet peeves is that the movie soundtrack always seems to be so damn expensive.

    Which one?
His fall from the church window after his fight with viscious or his fall as in his death at the end.

they said the plot will loosely adapt the first episode's "red eye" drug plot, but they acknowledge (and I sympathize with them) that due to the stand-alone nature of most plots, it would be difficult to translate into a film.

By which I mean....take "Rebuild of Evangelion 1" the first of a four-film series that will adapt the Evangelion TV series; the series has a continuous plot, so they just took episodes 1-6 and adapted them into movie format.

It's difficult to do that with just a chunk of CB episodes.

***my HOPE is that it's basically the plot of episode 1 and Red Eye, but they insert Vicious and the Ballad of Fallen Angels fight from episode 5.

I've not seen the anime or know anything about the story, but I'm betting the film will be ruined by Keanu's "I don't know what was in that syringe but it's definitely kicking in" acting method - the quiet, vacant voice, the sudden emotions that appear on his face only as long as he's speaking. He's not an actor, he's a line reader.

I've never been able to think of an actress for Faye. Olivia Wilde comes kinda close in my mind. But still not perfect.

What is it with you and the egregious hyperbole. It isn't even original.

Anime generally creeps me out with its androgenous, femmed-out male "heroes" and highly sexualized pre-teen girls. CB, however, is the exception - a terrific, well-written and fun show that avoids most of the anime stuff that I just can't get into.

I hope KR doesn't blow it.

Sounds like you need to lay off the ones for teens (the majority of what's televised here, sadly) and look into the stuff aimed at college kids and adults. I also prefer the more sophisticated titles, myself. I could recomend you a bunch if you want.

This is a very, very interesting development.

Going so far as to say Watanabe "gets to OK the script" is a bit of a stretch though, it seems him and others will be involved by giving comments and suggestions... That's still a plus though, it'll especially be a testament to the project whether or not they stick with it to the end. If they bail out it quickly becomes apparent they're shunning the film and the film makers may make an active effort to appease them...

    Interesting, like I said.

The worst part of this piece of news that Keanu's voice sounds nothing like David Lucas' (the english VA for Spike).. The only way this is going to work at all is if the post-production crew dubbed over Reeve's voice. Otherwise if even Reeves somehow loses his stoic (or wooden by his detractors) acting style I don't think the live action remake will be any good. He can't do the sarcasm. Other than the physique and the kung fu fighting I don't see it.

If they are going to go with an older Spike then might as well go with an older Faye. Physique notwishstanding I like to see they go with another Eurasian (i.e. Kelly Hu) or Uma Thurman.

For Jet I can easily see someone like Vin Diesel. Though it'll be hard imagine Vin Diesel cultivating Bonzai trees.

God knows who can play Ed.

The only one easy to cast for is Ein. I am sure any Welsh corgi will do just fine.

PS of course Tank would have to be the opening music and Blue the ending one. Kanno should be the composer and I like Taratino to be the director. :D
