NFL Discussion - 2008-09 Playoffs

All in one season:

Holmgren - retiring
Dungy - retiring
Shanahan - fired
Gruden - fired

Are Belichick and Coughlin the only active head coaches left in the league who have Super Bowl victories (as head coach) to their names? (Of course, one more name will be added to the list in two weeks.)

It seems that the Titans example through good and bad because you know it'll get good again doesn't seem to be noticed by any of the other teams. It's like they're on an Al Davis firing spree because they expect instant success (and because of the success of the Falcons and Ravens with first-year coaches and rookie QBs, that trend will probably increase).

Exactly. We weathered our seasons of mediocrity and are again competitive. We should be competitive and playoff contenders for another couple of years. Granted all Titan fans are upset about one & done but its not Fishers fault that the players didn't wrap two hands on the ball thus allowing the Ravesn "d" a better than average chance of causing fumbles.
Fisher does a good job, a better than average job and I'm glad to see that the owner/front office aren't keen to knee jerk reactions.

Never in a million years did I think the Cardinals would be destroying the Eagles this way. I was expecting a much closer game.

What a sensational conference final so far, great job by both teams.
No way that the AFC final can be as entertaining. *jinx* ;)

I'll phrase it carefully not to jinx it: Cardinals close to getting into the Super Bowl for the first time in 111 years? :)

Congrats to the Cards.

I humbly eat my crow for under-estimating them all season long. (No joke about all the "bird" teams in the playoffs implied!)
