Toy News International posted a pic of the 6 inch Captain Kirk action figure this morning.

Personally, I'm disappointed by the sculpting and overall design of the figure. I'd prefer Hasbro had the license. Anyway, I hate the texturing, and the quality of facial likeness hasn't improved since the 90s.

You do get a fairly decent look at the phaser.

Well, the legs look great. Yeah, that the only good thing I can say about the looks. The fabric uniform is kind of a turnoff, and the head sculpt isn't that great. Playmates doesn't do laser-face-scanning?

I was thinking about maybe getting one or two of these, but not anymore. And this is the 6-inch! Imagine what the 3 3/4-inch figures will look like. :vulcan:

Yeah, pretty ugly. It's a shame AA didn't get the license for these, but ah well, won't be buying them anyway. :)

That doesn't really look like Chris Pine, but then Chris Pine doesn't really look like a person. No I'm not explaining that.

That sweater amuses me and makes me giggle. Tee-hee.

The more I look at it, the more I find reasons to hate it. His bulky wool sweater look. His generic white male likeness. His goofily upturned clown shoes. The only positive I can give, is that when I saw images of the Terminator figures, also by Playmates, I hated the 6 inch figures more than the 4 inch. So maybe the four inch scale will look a little better? Eh, probably not.

At least we have an indication of what the phaser looks like. Unless it's been knit from wool too.

I knew Toy News International was going to do this. More than once I was turned off by something they presented on their site only to find that it looked much better in the comic book shops. But I think the 6-inch line was meant to be a throwback to the old Mego TOS line.

Personally, I'm more interested in the 3.75-inch line...

LOL, I just noticed the sweater effect is because some dope thought it would be a good idea to sculpt each and every delta shield on his shirt; Never mind the fact that it's actually imprinted into the fabric of the real uniform. Effen Playmates.

Looks like my halloween costume my mom put together at the last minute back in third grade in 1973. But then she wasn't much a "STAR TREK" fan at the time either. So much for gaining new ones....

I agree with everyone. This looks like crap!

I've got some of the '90s Playmates figures. Despite the odd proportions, they managed to get some pretty good likenesses of the actors (Patrick Stewart and Robert Picardo, in particular) but this doesn't look anything like Chris Pine.
And I won't mention the jumper! Or the phaser!

This is a new era and we are used to seeing some very good likenesses of actors / characters.

My favourite action figure at the moment is the Tom Baker Fourth Doctor by Character Options (a company based not too far away from me in Oldham, UK). That looks just like Mr. Teeth and Curls!!
