Do You Watch The News To Actually Get "News"?

I wish the FCC would come up with a legal definition of "news". Then a lot of shows would have to fess up and kill the slanted reporting unless the word "COMMENTARY" would come up on the screen like it did in the 3-network days.

Straight news reporting without the adjectives and attitude and then "and now a commentary from ..."

I stopped watching the news on Sept 13, 2001. After seeing the way televison news handled September 11th, I just can't bring myself to be a part of that.

Local news is totally worthless. I see local news teasers and they make me sick.

"Is a sexual predator moving in next door? Check this list to find out if your children are safe!"

TV I like BBC news even though it is a bit dumbed down these days. I watch it when I am abroad too.
On there web I again like BBC news though I find Google news a great way of finding differnt perspectives on stories as well as being the best way of finding news honed to my own interests.
I don't read newspapers oftern because I work for one and I don't have a lot of time to read the rival papers. Working for a paper means you get to know a lot of things before they are in the public domain like the winners of awards shows before they have been anounced for example. I also know a few things that are not in the public domain concerning people in the public eye (don't ask me what they are)
Magazines well I love Private Eye which gives you the news behind the news and is also a good way of finding out what is going on at work.
