What do the Beebs think of Trek '09?

We've been hearing alot from former Trek actors regarding Trek '09 and even started a thread postulating what Gene Roddenberry would have thought of it. But Berman and Braga, whose actions and creative decisions, either directly or indirectly, precipitated the development of the new movie, have been notably silent. To me, at least. But most of you are more web savvy than I. Has there been any comments or quotes from the Dynamic Duo regarding the new movie?

I'd like to think they're both enthusiastic about it, whether they were involved or not.

Quietly cooking up ways to kill the characters off, giggling like schoolgirls.

A rising tide lifts all boats, as they say. Anyone who derives income from the sale of "Star Trek" DVDs or other merchandise and is capable of understanding where their own interests lie will be cheering this movie on. ;)

Why do you guys keep picking on these people? If it weren't for them, Trek would not have been on for almost 20 years and quite possible this film may not have existed.

The human race has been finding scapegoats to blame for this, that or the other since the time of Solomon, if not well before. It makes some people feel better, and Berman and Braga are no longer even the most recent to be so honored.

See: RDM, RTD, the SAG, Hollywood in general, etc., etc. ...

How do you know? That franchise could have succeeded just as well under Pillar's, ISB's, and Taylor's care--not to mention Livingston, RDM, et alll. Not to mention countless other people who would've otherwise been involved. The one common denominator in all 90s (and ENT) Trek is, anything that seems like a bad idea is one of theirs, anything that seems like a good one isn't.

Scapegoat or not, the track record speaks for itself and is certainly justification for some of the riducle.

And I agree entirely about B & B. And would tack Frakes onto that, too.
And why stop there? Berman and Braga take heat because they were the most visible program-making entities, but they couldn't have done anything without a host of mandarins giving them the nod (Viacom upper management, Kerry McCluggage and the various heads of UPN, Sherry Lansing...); they weren't unaccountable overlords, they were employees.

All true. But I thought it was a given that they were all evil - they're network execs, after all. ;)

Well, one thing's for certain - the Killer Bs contributed a great deal more to Trek's success than any of their vituperative Internet critics have.

Of course, so did the guy who brought Robert Beltran lunch.

That's why I said "may not have existed." I don't know, but the shows that they brought for us were not that bad. It was more entertaining then a lot of shows we got on now-- like what, American Idol?? Please... The CW is the only channel that has anything worth watching these days.

Yeah, I know. But I actually miss the Trek shows they brought us... there isn't much good TV nowadays. I admit Enterprise wasn't exactly a true prequal, and they probably should of stopped with Voyager but I still found the shows entertaining.
