The local new books store here in Greenfield, MA, normally doesn't carry any Star Trek books (or Star Wars, for that matter--not that I care about them). Today, while I was in the store, primarily to see if my recent order of two DS9 books was in yet (Nope!), I happened to be looking in the hurt book section (OT: What exactly is a "hurt" book anyway? They don't look very "hurt" to me.), and what do I see? Not one, but two Star Trek books! And not just 2 books, at half-price (because they were hurt), but 5 novels within those 2 books! All for just under $13, plus tax.
The two books are The Hand of Kahless (composed of The Final Reflection and Kahless) and DS9's Millennium omnibus (The Fall of Terok Nor; The War of the Prophets; and Inferno).
Questions for you, my faithful scholars of ST Lit
: How would you rate these novel, both individually and together as part of their respective groups? Are there any other novels that would be helpful reading ahead of time? Any particular episodes that should be watched or reviewed (if necessary) before reading any of these titles? Would I want to watch the entire series of TOS for The Final Reflection, TNG for Kahless, and DS9 for Millennium? It'll be at least a few months before I'm finished watching those three series, but I wasn't planning on reading these books immediately, anyway. Besides, I have a few other books to read in the meantime.
One of the main reason for buying these books, besides the fact that they sounded good, as well as the recent ordered books, was to give a subtle hint to the store what at least one of their customers wants them to stock up on. Hint, hint!
