I read the whole thing and I know it is an early draft for the season, but it is a season and they would have started to make a season sooner rather than later.
The writers should have had a basic 5 year plan with a basic idea where they wanted to end each season. They clearly didn't have a fucking clue what to do after season 1 getting contact with Earth, and that's just sad on their part and the part of Stargate fans who continue to watch the series go down the toilet.
Majorty of writers don't pan out a 5 year plan so thats just a weak attempt to bash them.
That is not true at all. First off there is several easy ways to bash the Stargate writing team. Furthermore you should have a basic "Bible" for the show, more so when it's a franchise show, and you know will get a few seasons at least.
Many writers do a 3-5 year "Bible", obviously it changes as the show moves, but you have a point where you would like to end the show, or a point where you want some story to go. Wonderfalls only lasted 13 episodes, and the creators even had a basic plot to get them through part of a third season. That's all they need, a basic setup, and it's clear they had one in season 1 of Atlantis, and nothing sense.
You have Atlantis now on Earth, so now what? It seems there plan was just to send it back at the end of the 2 hour season 6 primere. That's great story development! It took the show 5 years, and in story the city 10,000 years to go back to Earth, just to send it back?
Plus if you have an idea of what to do the first episode of the season, then you should at least have the basic idea of the main plot of the season! You can always fill in the stand alone episodes easily, no big deal. To the Stargate writers it seems stand alone stories are important and we will figure out the big blowing things up episodes that won't change anything later.
It's like season 4, the beginning, besides pointlessly getting rid of Weir, was really fun. They introduced a few storylines with Girl Teal'c, and her people and her baby and such, Sam worked on the space station then took command, it was rather fun. Then it completely fell apart when Girl Teal'c seemed to carry the baby forever, and Sam was useless. Plot things out before hand!
