It can't. By rule it goes to sudden-death overtime, ala the Chiefs vs the Dolphins in 1971. It's still the longest NFL game ever played.

^I only saw 1 or 2 Lions games, and did their DB's look all that bad? Just because the team goes 0-16 doesn't mean that every aspect of the team is attrocious.

The Bears hired Rod Marinelli, who's been an extremely well-regarded defensive line coach throughout his career, to coach the defensive line. He's basically an all-world D-line coach, and during his decade in Tampa Bay he turned Warren Sapp into the guy who basically defined the under tackle position. And Marinelli is bringing in Sapp to work exclusively with Tommie Harris -- and the first words out of Sapp's mouth were that Harris isn't playing nearly up to his potential. These moves mean that the Bears don't have to draft along the defensive line in the early rounds. You should be giddy as shit about Marinelli coming to the Bears (especially since he's, um, not coaching the defensive backs).
Bob Babich has been demoted from defensive coordinator to defensive backs coach, which was his job before he replaced Ron Rivera. (And he did a phenomenal job in that role, as well.)
Before dropping the rolleyes, try getting your facts straight.
Now, all the Bears need to do is forget about this ridiculously misplaced loyalty to Ron Turner, dump him flat on his ass, hire an offensive coordinator who can call a play other than "fullback up the middle," and draft a wide receiver in the first round for my boy Orton to throw to, and ... and ...

Is it just me, or has this been a particularly bloody season/ off-season for head coaches?
It seems that the Titans example through good and bad because you know it'll get good again doesn't seem to be noticed by any of the other teams. It's like they're on an Al Davis firing spree because they expect instant success (and because of the success of the Falcons and Ravens with first-year coaches and rookie QBs, that trend will probably increase).
I was surprised to see Shanahan canned because he's the coach and GM and probably wouldn't give up the GM part, but Gruden's a mistake.
