Damages - Season 2

Damages returns for a second season after a 14 month hiatus. Anyone gonna watch? Patty Hewes is a lot of fun and in a lot of trouble, but I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of Ellen Parsons. Looks like she's in the process of turning to the dark side just like Patty.

I'm looking forward to it. The previews have been great and I want to see Ellen and the FBI's attempts to bring down Patty.

I'm so Glad that this show came back for another season. I was so engrossed in this episode that the flash forward at the end really shocked me. Can't wait for the reveal of who Ellen was talking to.

^What's your thinking on it being Patty's son or husband?
I thought it might be Patty she was talking to but I'm sure that's what we are being lead to believe until the reveal. Possibly the guy she met in "group".

Also wanted to add I feel sorry for Ellen; she's gliding through life trying to be so emotionless. I know she's been taken to a very dark place between the violent murder of her fiancé and the total mind**** that Patty keeps spewing. I hope she gets what she wants.

This was a great start to the season. Love the addition of Timothy Olyphant. And I think he was the person Ellen was talking to - there's more to that guy than we know, that's for sure. How do we know his real reasons for being in that group w/Ellen? He probably never had a tragically killed girlfriend. That is way too convenient of a story, geared towards getting Ellen's sympathy. He's probably working for Patty. :rommie:

I never finished the first season; I watched the first few episodes on FX and then let it go (no excuses). But I'll be sticking with season 2. I think I can enjoy Damages despite the handicap of missing about half of S1.

I have watched this week's season opener. I was pleasantly surprised to see Paige Turco as the much-younger wife of William Hurt. I remember when Paige played the "older woman" to Bailey (Scott Wolf) on Party of Five.

I think you are on to something there. He's probably one of uncle Petes informants.

Ellen is after not only Frobisher but Patty as well. I remember in the final episodes of Season One that Patty's husband got on him about how Ellen saw him at the House when he was supposed to be on a ski trip. It was too focused on to just be random in a season finale.

They did a good job of recapping the key points of S1 in the premiere in a natural way. Patty and Ellen were involved in a high-stakes legal case against Frobisher, who was guilty. But Patty used unethical tactics - something she tends to do - that ended up with someone committing suicide and Patty trying to murder Ellen. That, and everything else Ellen experienced, led her into her current partnership with the FBI to bring Patty to justice.

PS, Frobisher was not really guilty of killing Ellen's fiance, like she assumes. It was ambiguous but that was more his allies in the case and minions getting out of hand.

Or...he's working for Frobisher, who must realize that Ellen would blame him for her finace's death, regardless of how directly or not he was involved.

That scene where he tells Ellen how to get a gun smacked of SET UP to me. He wanted to see if she'd bite.

^ I don't think anyone currently works for Frobisher to be honest. They said that he only had three percent of his assets left to him in the settlement (I just realized his lawyer was Terminator's Cromartie).

If he's working for him, I would have a hard time believing that Frobisher knows of it. Considering the vulnerabilty he expressed to his doctor came across as genuine, I doubt Arthur Frobisher believes he has a single friend or ally in the world.

Now what happened to that stalker chick from last season? you don't think she could be the dead girlfriend? I seriously need to re-watch last season.

I saw all of Damages back to back several months ago... I'm watching S2 right at this very moment, but seeing you guys talk about stuff has made me forget half of what was going on.

I thought it was a good premiere. Slow but solid and I'm interested as to who Ellen is talking to. Also, as soon as the guy at the meeting showed an interest in Ellen I said, "There's more to him than meets the eye. He's no good." I think time'll prove me right.

Since it seems to be "too obvious" to us that Timothy Olyphant is up to no good, I'm hoping the writers will pull a switcheroo and he'll just turn out to be a nice guy who is interested in the pretty girl in his post-traumatic stress group. ;) Sure, getting her access to a gun was pretty weird, but then again, people under stress might do odd things in an attempt to form social bonds when their old ones have been destroyed.

^ OT: Last week on a rerun of Medium the episode opened with a woman having sex with a guy she met at a grief support group then killing him.
