Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li trailer (Kristin Kreuk)

I guess one can assume that they are going to try and tie in the release of this movie with the upcoming release of Street Fighter IV

EDIT: i should also add that if she does not wind up in a skimpy blue chinese dress then I will not watch this movie :borg:

Casting Kreuk was a BIG mistake.

She does have one definite skill. It was used in Smallville (where it was such a part of her character that they used it on the opening credits) and it looks like they are using it here.
She is very, very good at diving in front of explosions.

Now the question remains. Will it suck as much as the Van Damme outing or even harder?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with this. :p

Only two things stood out for me in the trailer:

1. They use fireballs.

2. Vega has his mask and claw.

That's really it. Everything else looked like a super generic action flick made for TV. At least some of the action looked good. Might be worth a matinee just to satisfy my curiosity over how bad it really is.

Rental.

I suspect I'm in the minority, but the first Street Fighter was a lame popcorn flick belonging to a universe that I knew a thing or two about. Dumb fun, and I enjoyed it.

This one looks to me to be along the same lines. I'll probably get around to seeing it.

I'm gonna see this without a doubt. KK will be great in the role and I've always felt Neal McDonough is one hell of an actor. Add in the gorgeous Moon Bloodgood and Michael Clarke uncan and you have a damn good cast IMHO.

I was hoping that the cast of this movie might actually be enough to raise it out of the usual crappyness of video game movies, but sadly it doesn't look like it is. Looks like just a generic martial arts action flick with a few extra special effects thrown in.

Holy crap. That actually looks GOOD!

For one thing, they used friggin' chi attacks! They actually use them!

And I have to say, that this looks NOTHING like the first Street Fighter. That Street Fighter was idiotic in the extreme. They went and "Americanized", rather, "made more real" the game, removing them, without even understanding a little bit about what the flashy energy attacks are, and what they represent from Asian philosophy and martial arts. (Not to mention the story lines of characters in the ffing game.)

Thus, they turned what is one of the best fighting games, with already present elaborate story lines in that abomination.

This though, this actually looks good.

There are several animated SF movies that would translate well to live action, I'm not sure why the have to try to twist the story and characters in ways they were never intended. THey have similar names, somewhat similar looks and they beat people up, but other than that this has nothing to do with any SF game from the looks of it.

At least those cheesy Mortal Kombat movies aren't afraid of their own roots. The first one is even good fun!

Good looking women: Check
Martial arts: Check

Hey I'm there. Plus it's Street Fighter. As long as it doesn't suck as badly as the Street Fighter Alpha movies than it should be entertaining at least.
